Talking Little things

The little things in life make for the greatest memories some times.

My 3 year old grand son riding the OCC chopper I got him for the first time.

What are some of your little things?

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Little things

I remember going into a record store with my youngest daughter. They had one of those gizmos that you could listen to music with headphones. So I was listening to Air on the G string by Johann Sebastian Bach. (I know it sounds dirty but it isn't. That's the name.) And I like classical music.

I just happened to glance over at her while this beautiful music was playing in my head and she gave me the biggest smile.

It was like looking at an angel. And I'll never forget it.

Re: Little things

I'm pretty sure that our newest grandson is the littlest Little Thing of all: 22 weeks and 1.2 pounds!

Almost 4 days now and he might actually make it.

Prayers for the little one!

He will do fine. Our daughter was born 6 weeks early. She was just over 4 lbs when we brought her home. She spent several weeks in the hospital before they let us bring her home. It was almost a week before my wife even got to hold her.

Thanks.

We're talking 18 weeks early here! If he survives that long, he will probably be in the hospital until his normal expected due date in September. The previous one is doing well at three now and he came at 25 weeks (well, they had to take him to save both of them, as this time also).

They weren't even going to try to tube him but my daughter insisted and they were successful. The tissues are so fragile.

Re: Little things

Prayers for Timothy. That's just amazing.

My "little things" happens sometimes with the neighbor kids. Their lane goes by the side of my property and their place is out back. My little shop is in the back corner, so they hear me there and come talk to me.

At an antique truck show they gave registrants these decorated pencils a handicapped woman makes, fuzzy google-eyed creatures on the eraser. That's really sweet but what am I going to do with these? I don't have the heart to toss them. Then I thought of the kids and offered them to the kids. They were so excited. You would have thought I gave them new bicycles! That was a good little thing.

They climb around on the board fence and noticed on the posts tops I hammered beer bottle caps in and asked why I did that. I didn't really have a good answer, just something I like to do and have done since I started building. I just told them it's a thing I like to do, no real reason. That was last year and now yesterday they come up, climb through the fence, and they have a box with something rattling. I said I knew they didn't have a rattlesnake in there, what was it? Their mom had bought a six pack of bottled Coke, I'm sure was a special treat, and they saved all 6 caps and gave them to me to pop onto the fence posts. Another "little thing" that gets me by. I have an outside work bench I hammered three into the end of I still have to show them. They'll be mighty impressed. It only takes little things for these little kids. Me too.

Re: Little things

Prayers for little Timothy and his family, too.

Tim - I hope you realize that interacting with those young kids is going to carry your memory forward decades. Those kids will be telling their kids and possibly grandkids about the "little things" they did with the old man next door. I know I sure still talk about the things I did with my grandfather. Miss him and my father both - terribly at times.

Little things these days are hugs and pecks on the cheek from my 17 year old daughter. Her time with us is now measured in just a few months and she will join her brother at college. It's both sad and joyful for me. I want to see them both grow into great adults but I am sad because I miss my son and will soon be missing my daughter as well.

Prayers for you and your family. Peace and comfort in the days to come.

If he would have lived, I would have had an older brother two years my senior. I often times wonder how my life would have been different if he had survived more than just that single day.

Re: Little things

Thanks, everyone. I just thought I should update with the news.

I'm doing okay but grandma is pretty upset. I can't imagine how this must be for our daughter and son in law and their other four kids. It's been a roller coaster the past eleven weeks. Little Timothy was doing quite well up until Sunday when he just started crashing for no apparent reason.
