Re: Post your C/L finds for everyone to enjoy!

Climate change may have some to do with it but I can't blame that all on man made causes. Not to say that we can't do things to help out though such as solar power for buildings.

I'd say that the huge fires are due more to bad range and forest management practices as much as anything else. The current people who run the forest service and Bureau of land management seem to cater way more to the hike in the pristine woods brigade who don't want to see area that have been logged or are afraid of cattle that might be run on the range that could be leased out and are extremely vocal about it.

If you live anywhere north of Sacramento in the western states you know about the thousands of acres of trees killed by pine beetles that were never cleared out and left standing dead and ended up providing fuel for a lot of the fast moving fires.

Throw in people who build houses out in forest area and I have to admit that I would probably have been one given the opportunity you have thousands of homes in the line of fires. Many with areas around those homes not very well kept as far as fire preventive measures go.

Re: Post your C/L finds for everyone to enjoy!

Nowadays anyone with Google Maps Satellite View can see that the tired old "those damn environmentalists won't let us log" speech is garbage just by zooming in on many areas of western states being virtually denuded by clearcuts. Since you mentioned northern California I will submit this Google screenshot I took of the area near Paradise, CA just before the fire destroyed the town. It's obvious that the abundance of commercial "forest management" didn't help this area resist fires at all. Riding my motorcycle weekly in commercial logging areas I personally see that dense forest is shaded, cool and moist underneath, while clearcuts allow the sun to beat down on the ground making it tinder dry and fire-prone. I've had to evacuate my home 3 times in 10 years I've lived here, all from privately-owned (ie big timber corporations) and professionally-managed timberland burning with billions being spent on firefighting at taxpayer expense.

Now let's return to discussions about old trucks before moderators slap us on our collective behinds!

If you live near Yakima do you know Walt Pearce? He has been drag racing since 1959. He's running a 250.

That truck just exudes quality, especially the interior. For $85,000 I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

That's just a shame...if you aren't a talented woodworker, you should not be doing woody conversions to perfectly good trucks.

I have to agree with Dave on that one, while the panel is kind of cute the wood work is pretty crude and lacks real "woodie" appearance. It's the devil in the details and not just sticking something on the side of a truck.

Re: Post your C/L finds for everyone to enjoy!

+My wife would find way too many projects for that deuce and a half to do. No excuses as to what it can or can't haul or tow there.

Plus every time your buddies get stuck they call you to come tow them out.

I knew a guy about 30 years ago that had one that was all spiffed up and looked like new even though it was pretty old then that he took to some open shows and drove in local parades around where he lived. That one was a nice truck that I doubt ever left paved roads on the state side army base it was on. He picked it up in a surplus sale and it was his toy and not a work truck.

I spotted this big window cab about 25 miles from me a minute ago. If I had an extra 300 I'd buy it but I am out of spending money for a while.

Probably used only during grain harvest until they blew the engine up.

Re: Post your C/L finds for everyone to enjoy!

This add on FB marketplace is a few weeks old but It's location may slow the sale down. It is in Kahlotus, Wa that is a small farming town in the Palouse that has a good coffee shop where the WSU students stop on the way back to school .
Looks like someone used the floor in another truck and I think the hood looks big truck. It might be something for the guys over on the wet side of the Cascades to check on though.

thinking that looks too big to be a small truck. plus the wheel openings are huge. the fenders are folded under at the rear but the openings still look huge even if they are distorted some.

That was my thought. It has probably been sitting there since the floor was cut out 30 years ago. The fenders probably got bent up dragging it around the farm yard. Way over priced for this area though.

Elk, Wa is up above Spokane.

Those rear fenders look real familiar. I think I saw them on a less modified truck about 30 years ago. That truck sure looks interesting as it sits though.

Re: Post your C/L finds for everyone to enjoy!

funny how you get used to the look of a COE with the front wheels usually being a reverse dish like a bigger truck would have and if modified they are lower to the grass. just seems odd to me that the front wheels are recessed. thats just me though. looks like the builder did a pretty good job as far the placement of the wheel in opening though.

Re: Post your C/L finds for everyone to enjoy!

I'm thinking that COE is pretty close to my sister's house from the photos. She lives out close to highway 18 on the Cedar river.

That would be a fun rig to tow my boat or car trailer with.
