Re: How to install front fender seals

The spacers are like small grommets if I recall correctly. Just use small washers. I've seen affixed with a mix of small hex head self tapping screws and small phillips head screws (#8 maybe?).

Re: How to install front fender seals

thank you for that information and your build thread! Man I wished you had close up photos of both sides of them installed.

Interesting that you seen self tapping used....

Re: How to install front fender seals

Does the installation of the seals make that much of a difference? Is there something that would work better, that other's have used?

Why 'O Why do I click random Threads...

Really not sure if they do. I blame this forum knowing mine appear to be missing, that's what I get for reading random threads LOL!

The PO had my truck for about 5 years and when he bought it his PO had the truck restored about 5 years before that. While my work has been mainly focused on the engine/transmission (started out to stop leaks and turned into a complete overhaul) the body work done 10 years ago has been impressive. No matter were we go / what we take off to expose bare metal, it is in near perfect shape. My understanding is the truck has lived its past 10 years 90% in someones garage - so I am sure that has helped keeping it "new like".

Anyways, it odd these seals are missing on my truck with how well everything else was done. I've read that keen eyes of higher end C10s (like with Cheyenne trimmed trucks) will point out these are missing and perhaps its not a factory real Cheyenne. So I guess my rub is I know they are missing and I want to see if I can manage getting them installed.

Basically its just a itch that I want to scratch - if that makes any sense ;-)

Yeah, makes sense to me. Especially, if your truck is the upper level trim, (Cheyenne, Sierra Grande). The reason I was asking is because my 70 Custom, which had never been apart before me, didn't have them, and I was thinking of adding them. I would consider it more, if it made a noticeable difference. Thanks for your input.

Re: How to install front fender seals

i just read/found out that you have to take the hood off to get the fender(s) off... I think my little front fender seals project has gone onto the "not likely to happen anytime soon" list.
