Re: 1960-1963 Rare Glove box emblem

The 1960 Chevrolet script used on custom cab truck glovebox doors was the same script used on the 1958 Chevy Del Rey passenger car glove boxes, same part number. It's really not that rare, just have to know where to look.

Is this topic dead in the water? I’ve been searching for this emblem for quite a while. I keep coming back to this comment and cursing at the ceiling because I’ve overturned quite a few rocks and searched many hours online looking for a Del Ray glovebox emblem. Maybe a little breadcrumb trail in the direction would help people out.

I just listed one. I have a second still in storage that I will locate also and this will exhaust my glove box script stash.

Re: 1960-1963 Rare Glove box emblem

I saw one in a local yard, but it had already broke in half. Is it worth anything to go back and get it? Also, how would I remove it if I decide to go back and get it?

They are made of pot metal and cannot be repaired so its worthless after its broke. Very annoying to remove if you dont have something real thin like a stainless spatula to pry with or don't know where the pins are

Dang, that's unfortunate. The chrome on it was peeling pretty bad too.

Thanks for the info!

Re: 1960-1963 Rare Glove box emblem

I’ve got one off a Del Ray a few months ago at the Pomona Swampmeet. There was a guy parting out a 58 Del Ray that was badly rotting away along with some other cars.
I saw the glove box door with the emblem on it, with my poker face I asked him how much he wanted to to give me the glove box door for and he gave me a dirt cheap price, so before I could let him know how excited I was, I gave him the money and took the whole glove box door before I started grinning lol

You just have to keep an eye out for them. That was the first time I’ve seen a Del Ray. It was a 4 door.

Yeah, I wouldn't agree with gmcnut that they are worthless when broke. Maybe of a lot less value, but still an original part.

Thanks guys, I'll probably go back and get it to see if I can glue it back together and use it on my truck
