oh how ignorance overwhelms people. i mean come on, if you cut the top off of a truck, there wouldnt be a step down at the door. it would be smooth and level not staggered due to the fact it has a TOP!. sorry, some people shouldnt be allowed to speak.

What do you think of 4.10s as a dd? Hows the truck run?

Once I completed all the work I described in my Project thread, it ran great. The low gearing moves this 4000+ plus beast out with some quickness. Only two downsides: one, high RPMs at highway speeds (around 2900 rpm @ 65 mph), and two, it's a gas guzzler at about 10.5 mpg average. I don't get on the highway much. When I do, I stay at 65 or so.

I'm retired, so I don't need to commute to work. I wouldn't use something like this for commuting mostly because of the gas issue. I just drive this thing around town, go surfing, get groceries, etc. with light loads only (surfboards and so on). For that, it's one of the nicer vehicles I've ever owned. Solid, reliable, I can do my own maintenance, and no smog checks.

Re: Whats your favorite part of your truck?

ill probably stick with the ones i got then. anyone else have a favorite part? i know if i had the money, i saw a grant steering wheel that was mahogany wood, it would be my favorite for sure. ive always wanted a wood steering wheel. i cant even find older ones that i could refinish.

Re: Whats your favorite part of your truck?

Actually one favorite part is the after market farm field tow hooks, whoever welded them on can lay a good bead .. I grew up around stuff like that, ... things made to work. ... And also the simplicity of the truck, ... I am a very mechanical type person so if it does not start, there is probably a wire to wiggle to make contact or something to be tapped on to get it to start. .... newer vehicles that do not start can make me feel inept real quick

And wether it gets a full restoration or left as is, I do not have to hang my head anywhere I pull up to. .. a win win.

Re: Whats your favorite part of your truck?

the fact that its been sitting for 2 months in the california sun with about .25 gallons of gas in the tank thats sitting in the bed and the air cleaner in the garage and it fired up in one turn so I could move it. Now getting the brake lights working is a different story.
