Re: 1973 Cheyenne Super 10

Are you putting the cab trim below the rear window to seperate the two colors?

Truck looks nice, like to pinstriping too. I will be doing the same to my 77 at some point in time.

Thanks guys!

I have the cab trim pieces. I plan on putting them on soon. I need the clips. I was also thinking of just using some double-sided trim tape. Anyone ever tried that?

The truck is coming along great man! The paint looks good, but will look like it "fits" better when you get the trim on. I thought about some good ol' 3M double sided tape for mine too. It works well to hold things on to almost every newer car on the road. So, I don't see why it would not work in this application.

Thanks!

I actually used for the emblems on my '62 and it's been holding great. I may try it. I'll report the results on here.

Re: 1973 Cheyenne Super 10

I've done a couple of things to the truck to get it ready for the colder months. I scored a wiper motor on here from member "whiskeydented". Mine was out so I posted a WTB ad and he came through. Gave me a great deal and it works great. As for the wiper blade assemblies, I scored a set at a local swap meet for like $3...I didn't even put new "refills".. the blades are cherry. They've also been tested. We've had some wet weather here lately. I also got my heater/defrosters working. Keeps the cab nice and warm.

Other than that, I've been taking the truck out of town more often within a 60 mile radius...Moriarty, Pecos, Espanola, Albuquerque/Rio Rancho. She does great on the highway. Those 3.42's are great! Overdrive would be nice, be that's a 'whole nother' chapter.

Later...JC

I'm going to try the Duplicolor stuff I used for the dash and door panels. That stuff seems to be holding up well. I'm not sure how it will act with seatbelts, but we'll soon find out....

I don't think the dye in an aerosol can would work on the actual belts, since they are fabric and flex everytime you use them. Maybe something like RIT dye (for clothes) would work better?

Re: 1973 Cheyenne Super 10

I don't know if the RIT dye will work very well, most seat belts aren't very absorbent.
I believe I have read that the SEM aerosol is for fabric also...I will have to do some research....

From what I have heard your not supposed to dye the belts at all it screws up the integrity.

Anyhow, I'm trying to be more 'legal' than safe... It's the only old trucks I have that actually needs the seatbelts to be legal.

Re: 1973 Cheyenne Super 10

I got the cab molding on this Saturday. Looks good! No pics as of yet...but it really cleans up the paint line. I drilled and bolted in the corner pieces and then used 3M trim tape for the long piece. Works great! I'll post some pics when I have them...

I've dyed a lot of seat belts. Get a bottle of RIT dye from the grocery store and boil the seat belts in hot dye water on the kitchen stove in a giant stew pot.
