Post How many miles do you have on your truck??

Just the other day driving home from work, I passed 190,000 miles on the odometer....well I think i did. I am just assuming that it has at least rolled over once. Is there any way to tell if the odometer has or hasn't rolled over? And that got me wondering how many miles are on your trucks??

I think my 71 has 78000 original on it from what I could tell of the bushings, etc on the suspension, plus the 350 isn't smoking or blowing oil yet. Now if the previous owners could have kept it out of the weather!

Well, my odometer says 98K, but I bet it's at least 198. I've put probably 4K on it myself.

The original engine went "bye-bye" two owners before me, so I have no idea how many miles are really on the engine.

That leads me to a question: Typically if you do a complete restore with a completely new motor do you restart the odometer at 0?

Mine shows 73,000. Who knows if it is 73k or 173k - but I think maybe actually only 73k. It was a farm truck and I think it mainly stayed on the farm rather than the road, so that would tend to keep miles down. The steering is all in good shape, as is the rest of the truck, but who knows. Would be fun to know for sure. I do know it was stored in a barn for 9 years before I bought it. Easy to verify because it has some type of inspection sticker on the windshield that shows a date of like 1986 or so and I think 68 or 69,0000 miles.

Something over a million miles

Well My Truck started as a 69 chev that got wore out after about 450,000 miles. 3 motors, 3 tranys, 2 front ends and 2 rear axles. I took all the parts, which were pretty good and put them in a 70 GMC. Then, after about 8 years, the Motor, Rear end, Front suspension and trany died again so I replaced them. At this point I just put in a 5th rear axle and I am on the 6th motor. Tranny number 6.
I fact the only original part is the cross member under the tranny.

I have been driving "My Truck", which has really been 2 trucks, since 1976. Thats 26 years.

In 98 I was commuting from Seattle to Central Oregon every week in it (325 miles one way) I ahve pulled some loads that would curl your hair, and she still goes.

The step had 114,000 on it when I quit driving it regularly. I rolled it over. The panel only has like 86,000 original miles on it....looks like 586,000 if you look at the body....

Both my 72 and my 67 have (i'm guessing) 130K miles. I think the only way you could verify, is if you live in a state where the state mandated some inspection and or emissions tests. That and the state dept. of liscence records milage at intervals upon owner / license change. Although, the state of Washington only records milage on vehicles 10 years or newer.

When I bought my 70 I became the 3rd owner. It had ~230,000 on it and needed everything. After replaceing everything it now has ~260,000 after 7 years. I didn't drive her that much. Now both boys have there liences and I never she her much at all.

good way to tell if the odometer has turned over is to look at the numbers on the odometer. if they are lined up and look pretty straight they havent turned over yet. ive been told that for every time the odometer turns over the more misaligned the numbers look.....126,000 for me

109,000

Bought it with 87,000 in '93, sold it to a guy that put 12,000 in one year on it... grrrr, then I bought it back. I usually put about 2,000 a year on it.

If your title says "Exceeds mechanical limits" when you first bought it, then its rolled over at least once already. Oklahoma and Kansas titles show this... not sure about other states.

126k original on my truck and 350k on the Jimmy. Dad bought the Jimmy in '77 and my brother and I both learned to drive in it. It's part of the family! It had 113k on it when we got it and thought we'd have to do a clutch. Finally did, 129k miles later when the OEM motor timing chain broke.
