Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Well the only update I have today is......feel free to start mailing cheques and cash to my address.....I have never had a truck that loved the taste of money as much as this thing does.....I will have new pictures tuesday and wed I am sure....

Hacked off the front engine plate tabs.....hacked off the rear engine tabs and am moving the engine back about 9 " New cross member for the tranny..........shakes my head. It really seemed like a good idea at the time, looks better, better transfer to the back....but it sure adds up quickly .

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Well the front has 2" drop spindles then it's bagged for mock up with a set up sort of like shockwave...should give about 11" of total lift in the back and 7ish inches of lift for the front end....Waiting for my new front tires to show up before we start cutting the fenders. It should be mocked up with the air ride in it later this week. We are just going to rebuild the inside of the box first, move the engine back another 6 inches and down another 2 " then it's front tires on and set up the air. Well thats the plan anyhow trying to get this completed so we can get the frame in for powder coating and get it together

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

That thing is looking great!

If that's the height you plan on running, it's perfect. My #1 rule on any Pro Streeter I have ever built: The top lugnut on the rear wheels has to be even with the fenderlip (or lower!). It makes it a real exercise to get the wheels off, but man, does it ever look sick. The 60-66 trucks make perfect candidates because they have nice flat sides, good looking wheel openings, and headlights sit low in the grille opening which makes them look even lower.

I see in one your replies that your '69 Z/28 is in pieces. Been there, done that. They are hands-down, my favorite car. I owned one back in the '80s when I was in the Air Force. Mine was Daytona yellow w/black stripes. Every time I think about that car I get depressed. I sold it because I had orders overseas and had no place to store it. I figured that I would get to California and find another one. When I got back, I got married, and those plans fell to the wayside. Now, you have to spend 25K on one that needs a full restoration. I will find another one someday. This time, I want a Fathom Green one. I have always loved that color.

Well my 69 Z has been with me since i bought it in pieces when i was in grade 12.( and I am old now ).It's a early production Z in ralley green but not a numbers match car. I have a 302 in the machine shop right now getting built with all the fixings to make a sweet little ride. It's the 3rd time i will have built that car...i hope to get it right this time...lol...thinking maybe a TKO 5 speed but we will see. Ya i am digging the way the truck sits right now and if i down grade in tire height it would lay rocker. Just got all of air ride stuff in so will have a really good idea of the finished height in a day or so . Going to take out all of the extra sheet metal in the front and clean up the engine compartment......I hope it starts to come together this week

Dude there is no such thing as too low......and you can always go lower

If you look in the dictionary under the heading " Low truck "....the defintion comes back as " If you spend enough hard earned money anyone can plow gravel with thier truck " or " It ain't low unless the oil is draggin " ...My buddy is building a bad a$$ 54 that is body dropped and mini tubbed on a s10 frame, when it's down on the rockers and valances the frame still has 6" of clearance.....I only wish my truck had that..lol
Your truck is looking great...keep up the good work

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Are you going to make Puyallup??? Taking something else??? I'm grounded this year, just trying to get on the road, $$$$ just not enough. Maybe that 6/49 in my wallet is a winner. Truck looks great, we'll cross paths one day. Good luck.

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Yup I hear ya, I've shunned all shows and cruises putting my motor in, August should be attainable, but I'm real slow...cautious. I hear Spokane has a great truck turnout. Look for a super low sedan Model T, black red interior, fenderless, their some friends from Alberni. Hope it goes smoothly.
