suspension questions

My 87 Jimmy came with the quad shocks on the front, when i got to replace them can i just run with 2 ? And how will this affect the ride quality ? Whats a good shock to go with on a stock height truck ? lastly whats a good stabilizer shock to go with ? Truck is a daily driver that doesn't see any off road action. Is not lifted and if i do lift it at some point it will only be 2''

Re: suspension questions

You can run a single shock in the outboard position. I am running the NAPA gas shock and whatever they had on the shelf for the steering

Re: suspension questions

Ok thanks. Right now the truck has 4 Rancho RS6000 on it in the front and I’m thinking those can be improved.

Re: suspension questions

Might also check out the Bilstein 5100's or the yellow Bilsteins.

Re: suspension questions

what type of ride should i expect from the yellow bilstein ? I went ahead and ordered some Monroe matics the other day, price was right and i wanted a stock type ride not anything too stiff but they can go back.

Re: suspension questions

Sorry for delay....yellow should be close to stock, maybe better control.

I like my 5100's and handle the larger tires great. Very smooth compared to the Rancho's I pulled off. A better quality shock. If stock is what you are after, the yellows should be fine. I think they are 4300 or something like that.
