Bringing home a 72 Jimmy this weekend!

Bought this 72 Jimmy yesterday afternoon for a great price. It was too muddy to load it so i will be going back when it dries up a bit. Its rough but its complete minus the rear seat and top. Not sure what i will do with it yet. I honestly might getting running and driving and cruise it the way it is for the summer and maybe sell it in the fall.

Re: Bringing home a 72 Jimmy this weekend!

I'm so glad you bought this truck.

I kept seeing it show up on my ebay search and with 3 Blazers/Jimmys in my restoration queue already - I just couldn't buy another one.

Happy to see if went to a board member so I can see the updates on it along the way.

Good purchase and Congrats!

I like it! I don't have a Jimmy. I would add that to my collection.

Re: Bringing home a 72 Jimmy this weekend!

This will actually be the second Jimmy i have owned with "custom" badges on the doors. Its only on the passenger door on this one. I get to pick it up today so i will post more pictures in the next few days. I'm actually pretty excited. The guy i bought it from said it has been sitting there for 20-25 years.

Re: Bringing home a 72 Jimmy this weekend!

It's the same one - I messaged the guy to see if it had a clear title and he replied 'yes'. It didn't sell for at least 3 times of him listing it.

Appears to still be in the same spot as the ebay listing was. I wish I would have saved the pix from that listing.

It appears to be in decent shape for a clean frame/shell and title.

You are exactly right. I found the listing yesterday and asked him why he hadnt taken it down. Said he forgot he listed it.

Re: Bringing home a 72 Jimmy this weekend!

The owner of the junkyard loaded it up and i was pretty nervous but hes obviously done it a million times because he set it on the trailer perfectly.

Hmm, I was wondering where that Jimmy ran off to. Glad it's not sitting out in the mud anymore.

Re: Bringing home a 72 Jimmy this weekend!

Bit of a update on the Jimmy. Did a new starter, fuel pump, new fuel tank and an oil change and this this runs and drives great. I also couldnt stand how ratty the dash was so i replaced the dash pad, new cluster and an original radio. Buffed the dash to get most of the surface rust out. Ordered new tires for it which i will put on a set of 15x8 rally wheels. Still trying to decide which color to paint the wheels. I dont like black wheels but i guess ive never seen white rallys on these trucks. Do you guys think white rally wheels will look weird? I would like some input. Oh and what better vehicle for a first drive for my 11 year old daughter? Her first time behind the wheel, in our back pasture driving the old jimmy. she absolutely loved it.

Re: Bringing home a 72 Jimmy this weekend!

Finally got my wheels and tires done. I'm really glad i went with the factory argent color. New fuel tank is in, but now i am fighting a fuel gauge issue and rotted taillight housings. Ordered a new taillight harness and dug out some extra housings i had. Shes no show stopper but it runs and drives really good. I have also decided to sell this one as soon as i work the wiring issues out. What do you guys think its worth? I have a number in mind...

Looks cool, but the tires might be a bit too big.
