Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I trimmed the lip on the Honda seals and this is how they look. I am ok with this. If you put the seal on a bigger table and cut it smoothly throughout the whole seal it looks good.

Nice job. They look good from the pic but hard to see the details on it. That and the squarebody was distracting my focus

I am gonna try that on the set I have. You just use a razor blade knife?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I just used a thicker blade (1") olfa knife so it didn't flex. Just have to be real smooth and it will look very good. If you cut too deep you will hit metal. This was my 1st one. I'll have to get another passenger side and do it again. You have to learn somewhere I guess.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

This is my next project as I'm waiting for metal work. I'm going to take new t3 headlights and split them and put the faces on the newer rear cases. Just another stock looking detail I would like to have. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/1006...ide_front_view

That turned out much better than I imagined it would. Nice work

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

This is probably the most useless option in the catalog of gm parts from that era but it is rpo CE1. Headlight washers. Came on Chevelle corvette and Camaro and probably anything else gm made. I wasn't going to add this but I got bored so I'll figure out how I'm going to make this work. The absolute only option I don't have that I tossed around is V75 liquid tire chain. If I could find a complete set up of that I know how I would make it look stock but good luck finding it anywhere.

Passenger side. It just barely clears the motor. The vent window frane sits quite a bit away from it. This sideshows better from the inside

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Trying to get the dual air cleaner set up properly and moching up some other small stuff before the metalwork starts. I thought this looked cool. Kind of like a real life exploded view.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Dave Kindig is working on a convertible C-10...maybe a '67. I think it's going to be the season finale. Looks like you've got him beat. I doubt his will have headlight washers.

LOL. Everyone wants a C10 Vette it seems. I wish I had his team and cash flow to do a build. It would Be a blast. Here is what I figure on the air cleaners. I wish I could find the original hoses in good condition. That will be tough. I'll probably spray these to look like the rubber ones used original. It's as close as I can find with a smooth inner wall and heat resistant.

Take careful measurements before you attempt removal...that's always helpful. If there is not a good reproduction version currently available, it shouldn't be a particularly difficult one to do (if you want).
Ha. The other one came off clean but the one on my air cleaner is already destroyed. I have a picture of the air cleaner decal with correct number here. Any chance you could make it? I have another here but has a corvair part number on it. I could send you the repo I have with the different part number on it for correct sizing if you need.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I hit a snag with my headlights. The octane housings that I have are not big enough to accept the face of the T3 lenses. This thread has the same problems. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...ights.1209713/. I don't want to wreck the octane lights so I'll look for hella's that will accept the t's lenses as he did and sell the octane lights. Also the headlight bezel won't have enough room to put both headlight washers on the upper part of the low beam so I'm not sure if I'm going to put one on top and bottom or one on high and one on low.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I used these for my LED conversion. Not T3 faced but the look is pretty original.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I'll return your pm shortly. First look with the fog lights. The bulbs I have came with a high/ low setting like a headlight. I never realized that. I may use one setting for fog and 1 setting for cornering lights like Cadillacs have. The turn signal switch I have in my telescopic column has this feature built in so it would just need to be wired.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Ok so before I start headlight surgery I did a comparison of what I have here. I compared a morimoto 3.0 I put in my van and the bulb that comes with the octane lighting kit I bought. Both are in the same octane lighting housings I have. The morimoto has an excellent pattern in my van And here it shows the same. The bulb on the left with a flatter pattern is the morimoto. The right is the octane bulb with no pattern at all. Just scattered light. I'll take another in my alley tonight when it gets dark. The morimoto weren't cheap but they are super nice to drive with in my van.

That is a big difference. Getting this combination right makes all the difference.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

This is a the closest to the top of the light I could get these on the right side so I did the left side to match. I wanted these done as gm did it on the cars so both need to be on the dim beam. These are on an extra headlight bezel I am just testing on

Did I miss an earlier post of you discussing this mod? I can't find it if so. You didn't say, but it appears you relocated your washer nozzles under the wiper arms and ran a rubber line up the arm to a remote wiper nozzle? Is this correct? Got a pic of the rubber in the arm and the new nozzle location up the arm and how it clips on?

Very cool. Nice work. If I am correct in my assumptions

Yes I posted on it quite some time ago. Wasn't quite sure how I was going to do this without it looking unfactory. Here Is the hose up the arm.
