Well I seriously made a mess in the pass 2 days. But you have to destroy, before you can beautify.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN

You bet! Lots of pic, The bushings for the mounts are 41.375 part and the frame is narrower then that. So it will be fun. And to why I choose it. Because its not been done to my knowledge. And that I got 14" brakes and a suspension assembly for less than a 14" disc brake kit.

Just make sure fronts are 14" or bigger than rears

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN

The tires came today. Has anyone modified their tub for larger tires or for lowering? If so some pics would be nice. The tires are on block because the pegs are off the ground and they still need to go up but they are hitting on something.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN

fleetsides are easy to widen with some sheet metal, just split it down the middle and add metal
easy peasy

now getting the right wheels with the proper offset is the challenge

Well I got the tires, but no rims. I got the tubs and the remaining springs out. Slid the camaro rear in place.

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN

Well gents,
The info requested is Hub to Hub =66". Truck width is 74". I purchased some Coys Monday due to Nice wheel+on sale. Orginal Camaro SS wheels are 21x9 with 7.25 backspacing. I'm going to try 20x8.5 with 5.25 backspacing, which leaves 3.25 outside x2 +66 =72.5 + 1/4 steel tube stock rolled in the fender lip, extra metal removed x2 = 73 and a 1/2" on each side for gap = 74. HAHAHA now if that works out. I'm calling GOD to thank him.

Very cool man. Its cool to see the newer stuff being integrated into the suspension upgrades on these old trucks. I wish I had that reared laying around to swap into mine!

Re: 1959 Fleetside REBORN

Man those fleetside beds look good.

Hey guess what? Your wheels are on my 55 its nice to see that they now make them with a soft lip. I bought mine years ago and they did not come in a soft lip. I like the soft lip that you have much better.
