Hello from a new member.

Hey guys, thought I'd swing by to introduce myself. I had a '70 C-10 a few years ago that I ended up selling to pay bills, well I've kicked myself every day since then. The bills will always be there, my truck wouldn't. So a month ago I thought I'd treat myself to another one, this time they'll have to bury me in it !
I was casually looking for a different truck and happen to run across this 1971 GMC 1500, It has the original 307 and 3sp manual....with 87,000 original miles.
It does need a core support, it's rusted out underneath the battery tray. It's had very little body work done to it, cab corner work and rocker panel work, but everything else is absolutely beautiful. This truck I'm gonna keep as stock as possible, but would like to put a newer 5sp in it so it's friendlier on the hi-way. I will look around here but if anyone has a link to a 5sp swap I'd sure appreciate it.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Hello from a new member.

Thanks everyone ! It definitely feels great to have another one of these trucks.

I did find some pictures of Brad's truck with the T-5, I've sent him a PM with some questions. I figured with the top mounted shifter it would be a little cleaner on the install, otherwise I'd look for a 4sp. Those T-5's are quite common around here in wrecked S-10's for around $150. Anything 4sp here is a little tougher to find, unless it's out of a car.
