Are there any under the dash kits out on the market that look good? I'm talking about hidding the wires, etc. I want the unit to be hidden; mounted inside something so that it looks like it's supposed to be there. What does everyone think about cutting the doors for speakers?

I wanted to keep the original working AM radio but also wanted a CD player. I bought a stereo/CD player with remote and installed it on a thin board and placed it under the middle of the seat. I put velcro on the remote and attached it under my heater controls for easy access (you could also place it between the visors). The only drawback is that I can't see the lights of the stereo but with all the presets this is not a big concern. The system works great and I didn't cut my dash. Good luck!

The unit I used is from DAN FINK METALWORKS, 17872 METZLER LANE, HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA 92647. Order phone 800-548-6984. Tech line 714-841-6200. This is a quality unit. The company makes parts mostly for older street rods. They have three sizes available. I chose a brushed aluminum face panel that matches my gauge cluster and glove box.
I will gladly email a picture of their ad to any one who requests it. I can't seem to get pictures to post on this board any more.

I have no affiliation with this company. Only a satisified customer.

in the late 70's early 80's when 67-69 camaros where cheap
They were butchered and cut on like crazy. Now some 20 yrs later an uncut unmolested 67-69 camaro is the rage or is it.
I mean if your an accountant type making an investement and look at your 68 camaro as a stock portfolio sure uncut original makes sense. But when I have images in my head of a 68 camaro it has a huge tach 12 bolt posi big block and nice wheels. The reality on 67-72 trucks is only the rare models will bring the bucks the swb big blocks the loaded Cheyennes. The average non numbers match run of the mill c10 will appreciate in value some but in 20 yrs the accountant types I talked about earlier are going to be paying big money for the rare models. So imho if its a run of the mill truck cut it make it anyway you want it. There will be plenty of parts trucks to supply the #'s match types in 20 yrs.
swb frames and original options will become the rage just like when you see guys paying $1100 for chevelle tach dashes etc.
I would cut it slice it and dice it unless your truck is one of the rarer loaded models or is a big block truck in that case originality would be the way to go.

Putting on my fire suit.
Just thought it was kind of interesting/ironic/maybe even funny that there would be so much debate about cutting up a dash a little bit, when on the same list there are several posts about chopping frames, installing different engines/drivetrains, etc.
To each his own, I guess.
Make it your own truck. Then keep it.
