I hope you win in court. Cops by where I live all are from small, rich towns. Which translates into too many cops, and they get bored easily. I was with my friend in his 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse ricer and he was speeding. But, a Sheriff pulled out after him on the highway, and trailed him for a ways. We thought it was weird that his radar detector didn't go off. Well, my friend decided to duck off the highway and go hide somewhere (I know, not the smartest thing to do). We shot off the highway and drove around for a while. We thought the sheriff was gone, and we approached a large intersection that goes from 4 straight ahead only lanes to 3 on the other side. Its hard to describe. We stopped at the light, then when it went green we went across and turned left into a Taco Bell, and the Sheriff flies across the intersection (which had a yellow/red light), pulled into TB, and turned his lights on. He made us get out of the car and he searched it and us. 2 other city police cars came as backup. About 15-20 ppl inside TB thinking a drug bust or something is happening right there. We had nothing hiding in his car, so the search was pointless. Sheriff says he is going to give my friend a ticket for failing to signal the lane change (where it went from 4 to 3 lanes). But my friend calmly and coolly says that turn signals aren't necessary to assume lanes (which is what we did, since the lines didn't go all the way across the intersection). The sheriff gave us a very hard look (we guess he forgot to turn his radar gun on or something? we still are puzzled by that) and left. All proof that ricer cars attract the fuzz almost as good as donuts

Hey Ray, No hard feeling right?

This whole thing really wasn't a big deal to me. I just thought it was funny that she would tell me about emmisions equipment. Oh well...I'll be going on stupid probabtion when I go to court, that's what they do here anyways. 72customcamper, I like that idea about the police trucks...I mean you see police camaro and firebird drag cars. Hell they even have a fuzz vs high school shootout at the local drag strip occasionally.

It reminds me of the female, Milwaukee police officer that wrote me a ticket back in 1988.

I was driving my 63 SS Nova and squeeled the tires. She came up behind me and wrote me a ticket for "Unreasonable and Imprudent Speed".

I went to court and the judge ask my side of the story. I asked him if I could ask the officer a question. Of course he said yes. I asked the officer what the deifinition of "Imprudent" was. The officer could not answer me. I looked at the judge and asked how can an officer write a ticket for something that she does not even know what it means. The judge had a smirk on his face and dismissed the case

Ok, now you guys reminded me of another one!

2 of you mentioned fuzzy dice....

Last summer, I was pulled over for having fuzzy dice in my truck! I couldn't believe it! I've been driving for 20 years and I always had dice or something hanging from my mirrors with no problems.

All I got was a warning and he made me take them down but come on. How ridiculous is this? Don't cops have better things to do than "harrass" innocent people?

The funny part...he never mentioned anything about the brake light that was out or the fact that I wasn't wearing a seat belt! (I thought I was pulled over for one of them at first)

He was so fixed on those fuzzy dice that he never noticed the light or seat belt.

P.S. I do have respect for the police when they do their job properly. They want respect, they should give respect.

Want to know what really pisses me off? It's not the cops but the court system that's letting all these drug dealers and hard core law breakers back out on the streets with a slap on the wrist! The cops work hard arresting these low lifes only to see them back out again.

The drugs are the real problem in this world, not fuzzy dice and old trucks! Drugs cause other crimes like theft to pay for them and murder because anyone on drugs is half out of their mind.

If they would keep these types locked up, sooner or later, there wouldn't be any of them left.

Here's another story that happened to me kind of like the fuzzy dice deal. I had a old personalized tag on the front of my burb. I got pulled over for having it on there. Kansas doesn't even require front tags, nor if you do have a personalized tag its not valid on the front. He told me it was illegal to have any kind of state issued tag on the front unless it is current. I told its not valid anyway and asked him what the difference between a college logo tag, VFW tag, etc. on the front of your vehicle. He said it was against state law to have old tags on the front. I said OK and took it off but still wonder why even mess with stuff like this. Some cops!

FYI a 255/70 and a 235/75 which is very close to a stock tire for these trucks when new (L78/15) is less than 1% different in circumferential length. His speed was likely not affected by his tire size.
