Truck work shops

Hey who has a work shop that was built at home so they could work on there old trucks? Sure would like to see some pics. I am planning on building me one real soon and was looking for ideas and how yall have them set up.

i don't have any pictures to post but i have a 30x40 shop with 12' walls.it has 1-10x12 & 1-10x10 rollup doors and walk through door.it was money well spent.if you build one,spend the extra money on insulation.this shop i built is insulated but my first shop was not and it really makes a difference.

Well, mine wasn't built by me, it was built by my father, his brothers and my grandfather, and I bought my grandfathers house just so I could have the garage. They ran a bus line in my area. If I remember correctly it is 42' x 28' or something close to that. I have several improvements I want to make to it but it is a nice start. Here are the pics:

30' x 40' "second" home. I got a furnace, I got A/C, and I got a fridge (ie: BEER!), what else do I need? Oh yeah, I got some tools too.....

I just had to!! I was at Sears shortly after I got it done, and they were clearing out their last-years models of those big 220VAC A/C units for 75% OFF!!!!!

For that price (about $150), I had no choice but to buy one

Here is my detached shop, no room for work there!! I actually work in my basment garage, It is 24x40 and has a concrete ceiling with garages above it! ( I cant find a pic of it yet)

Mine is 24x30 with a 15x18 overhand/carport on the front side. I have a 10' rollup and walkin door on the front and aohter 10' rollup on the side. This was my graduation present (32 years of college ) from me and my wife to me. These are just some shots I had on the computer and obviously not fro the same time.

No special adapter. The arms were already set for a Chevy engine, I just bolted the tranny right onto it. Slid it out onto the tailgate, bolted the thingy onto it, and slid the stand on.

Here's mine.
25x35 with a 6' overhang all along the south side. When I bought the house (I bought the shop, the wife bought the house) I thought that overhang was stupid. However I store a lot of crap under there that doesn't need to be inside but does better without rain and snow falling on it.

If I built it I would have made it 16 to 24 feet longer. Right now I can store my two Chevelles in there and work on the truck in the middle. During fishing season when the boat is on the trailer alot I park the truck in the attached garage and park the daily driver outside.

Some day I may enclose the overhang and extend the floor over there. However that outside storage is growing on me.

It has no heat. Yet.

BTW that is an old picture, taken right after we moved in. All the boxes are gone and the Triton is in storage for the winter at the farm across the road.

Hey guys keep them coming , love all the shop pics, I am thinking of going with a 30x40 x12 with two 10x10 roll up doors at each in wall and a walk through door on one side. Just need a few ideas on how some out there looked with truck work in process and how much room was left.

Here is where I work. I had the house designed with this garage in the basement. It is 24x40 and I can put 4 trucks in there. It has a concrete ceiling and I have garages above it. There isn't alot of extra room (with 4 trucks in there), but it works for me.

My garage is more or less storage for tools and parts. Truck won't fit in there, the Camaro will fit but I can't walk around it.


Garage is only about 14'x22' but I have a concrete slab that I work on right next to the garage which is about 20'x20'

I built one in Texas that I had to leave. 24X36 with 2 10 foot doors and 2 walk in doors. It was too short. With a 6 inch wall your real size is 23X35. When I do it again it will be a minimum 30X40. Oh and go as high as you can on the walls and ceiling.

I got a late start on my this year.The cold and snow has stopped work on it until next year but it will be 60x60 with a 15'ceiling.I got the ground work done and the poles cemented into the ground before the snow hit

I haven't put mine together yet but I bought a 30X40 a few years ago. I should begin in January putting it up. I only paid $2800 shipped to my door. The assembly is going to be pretty easy. I have someone who has put one up helping and the hardest thing is getting started. Here's a link to what I bought.

No pics but my shop is 49x54 13" insulation in the walls and about 18" in the attic it has 90% Plus counter flow furnace and a 2 ton central a/c my shop never gets over 75 in the summer and less than 60 in the winter when I am working on a project in the shop its usually kept at about 70 degrees, their has been days when I could have used a dehumidifier in the summer, it has a bathroom with slop sink toilet and provisions for a tub shower (never finished probably will never use) I bought the best garage doors with the thermo break so they dont frost up inside on real cold days, I have floor drains so I can wash cars - trucks inside if I want, hot and cold running water.

It has cable for TV but I never use it and just use one of the kids old boom boxes for music some day I will retire my 25+ year old home stereo from the house to my shop.

Garage doors are 8' tall cieling is about 9' walls covered in dry wall, if I had it to do over again I would have built it 16' tall so I could have a loft for junk spare parts and park my RV inside to keep out of the weather and to do maintenance on.

84 lumber has kits you can get rather cheap-and you can modify them to your needs. I have a 24x28 which I ran wire,water,cableand wireless internet.

I hoping my wife will get tierd of me working in the driveway. She is starting to feel sorry for me... I have a barn on my farm, but it is 2 hours away and its older structure... with 3 more trucks parked inside! I've got issues...

Nice truck and Blazer you happen to know the paint code for the Blazer I really like that color and was thinking of painting my truck the same color.
