Ok after a lot of checking and comparing I've decided to go with the Vintage Air set-up for my truck. Anyone have any suggestions as to where I should buy it to get the best price? I believe I've seen the system for under 1K but don't remember where. TIA.....

I couldn't really find a price break anywhere so I bought direct from Vintage Air. If you have a non air truck I would go with the system that uses the factory A/C controls. If you go this route there are cheaper people to buy the controls from. You will also need the bracket for the controls. Vintage Air can sell you that piece for cheep!(not to mention I couldn't find anyone else who sold it.)

I BOUGHT ONE ABOUT A YEAR AGO FOR $1000. I LOOKED & LOOKED FOR ABOUT A YEAR TO FIND ONE FOR A GRAND, & WHEN I FINALLY FOUND ONE I JUMPED ON IT. I GOT THEIR SURE FIT SYSTEM FOR A AIR CAB & AM USING MY STOCK CONTROLS. THE GUY SELLING THEM WAS BLOWING THEM OUT AT OR NEAR HIS COST. I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO GET TO THE POINT WHERE I'M READY TO INSTALL IT.

I bought mine about two weeks ago (still waiting on it to get here - there's a three to four week backlog at vintage). Mine was $1070 out the door. Cheapest I've found and I called a ton of places. The number is at work so if your interested let me know. Cheers, Jim.

Uh oh....what bracket are you talking about? The guy at vintage said he could sell me the a/c controller for $195 but he didn't say anything about a bracket. I found a rebuilt controller on ebay for $55. My factory controller is only for heat so I guess that bracket won't work? Part number? Thanks.....

I don't have the part# right here with me but if you call Vintage Air they will know what you need immediately. Your non air controller doesn't have a bracket and screws/bolts directly in the dash. Factory air controls were previously used on Impalas (I think/have heard/imagined

) this is why they aren't a direct bolt in. I have seen guys fab their own bracket but I want to say the Vintage Air piece is $9. I'm sure someone on here may have a pic of the bracket.

I've found that alot of places that carry a kit is from "OLd Air" I didn't know Brothers was from Vintage. I'll check it out.

Any good inside pics of the VA system around the passenger side dash area?
Wondering how much of it shows in plain sight, and then when you look underneath just a little.

Mike - yup, better ask, this is the one item that hardly any vendor (i haven't found one) stocks because of the many different applications and the high overhead cost. Mostly they are drop shipped to ya. Eckler's (who I won't deal with anyway) is 15 mins up the road, everything I've called about ordering from them has a huge shipping fee attached.

Alright i would love to get rid of that bulky heater core on the firewall. Is it possible to just use bulkheads also and not have the small box on the firewall? Like in the pic is this just an easy way to cover up the holes from the old core? I plan on shaving my firewall and would like to just have 4 connections going through the wall. Also Does this kit eliminate the box inside the cab on the passenger side foot area? Thanks Josh

If I'm understanding your question (bear with me I'm about 4 Miller Lites in right now) yes you can shave the firewall yourself and just buy a bulkhead. I think if this is the route you took you would have to have your lines built (the ones in the kit might not work depending on how your bulkhead is positioned). Yes the plastic cover is just to cover the factory heater core box. All the interior factory heater box is removed and replaced with Vintage Air parts. Give the guys at Vintage Air a shout, they have always been more than happy to answer questions for me!
