Question Was there ever a longer shortbed?

For me, I think the Short beds are too short and the long beds are too long....I'm thinking about 12-15 inches need to be cut off to where I want it to be....or mabee a shorter longbed was made if so where can I see picks......if not I am going to cut and weld this puppy to how I want it......I'll shorten the drive shaft and everything to make it fit.

But there is only 6 inches difference between a shortbed and a long bed isn't there?

iluvmy72, there's nothing in between the SWB(115")and LWB(127")

I say if you want something then HACK away. It's your truck, do what you want to. Give it plenty of thought and have a good plan before you start.

Shortbed is known as as six and a half foot bed. 72+6=80 so the 82 inch measurement is good. Long beds are eight foot. That equals 96" so the 102 measurement is good. If they are measured on the outside of the bed as it looks like from the pictures this would account for the difference. Longhorns are nine foot so that would equal 108". The difference between a SWB and LWB is one and a half feet.
Man..now I'm all confused...

Vince M, Longhorns are only 8 1/2 foot, and the one ton step sides are 9 foot.
