Rpo K46 Too much Air restriction for 327?

I found all the pieces to this hd air cleaner setup I am thinking about adding to my stock 67 build. I am looking at the rpo code and it states for all engines including the 283 but not 327. Would that be because it restricts too much air for it? It Has a 3.5 inch tube to the pre cleaner and 3 inch to the air cleaner. Would be pulling cooler air from the cowl which would be nicer I would think.

Wow, I've not seen one of those before. I say try it out. A couple of 0-60mph test runs should tell you how it compares to a more standard setup. Maybe the thing to try is bypassing the pre-cleaner. What's inside of those things anyhow?

Not sure what's inside as I don't have it in my hands yet. I too thought of that just to keep restriction lower.

I think I would consider bypassing the pre-cleaner entirely and just running a hose from the cowl fitting to the air cleaner. Should be fine for your engine.

That is really cool!
Are you mounting the cowl plenum on the right hand side of the cowl then to your
air cleaner assy. ?
I haven't ever seen this before, I wonder if something like this was available on
the 67-72 generation of trucks?
3" all the way to your air cleaner should for enough CFM. for a 327, was this only
available in years when the 283 was the big inch option?
Have fun with your build!
All the Best
Dirk

The red truck is a 67 factory with a 283 in it. I am going to mount it just as the factory did it but with my 327.

That air hose is way bigger then your carb throat. Should be fine.
