thanks for any help, sorry for dumb questions still getting to know this beast
WD-40 is not a penetrating oil it is a Water Displacement product, thus the WD designation. The 40 stands for the 40th formula tried that actually worked (for what I don't know...

Looks like someone has replaced your stock parts with a Heim joint at that location.... The adjustment instructions in this thread will not work for that.

Re: Shift Indicator adjustment

You could try to tighten the he in down. If you can't go any further then you can probably cut the threads off some. Let us know how it goes

Thanks for the help. Would this solve my issue or is it something completely different: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/E-Z-Sh...-Kit,1926.html

That basically looks like what you have. There has to be a way to adjust what you have but I just don't know how to do it. Maybe if you disconnected the bolt at the Heim joint, put the trans in park manually, and had someone hold the shift lever in the park position then screw the Heim end up or down until the bolt went in easily it would align it. It would be worth a try any way. Just make sure you block the wheels before you start.

Re: Shift Indicator adjustment

after browsing YouTube for a few hours I found a video that shows how to adjust the shift indicator spacing using a Lokar Shift Linkage (which I believe is what the PO installed).

Might be helpful if anyone needs in the future:

Re: Shift Indicator adjustment

Is it possible that the collar the that the letters are mounted to has moved to the right slightly? Just a thought.

Re: Shift Indicator adjustment

OK, but the collar itself, have you tried grabbing it with both hands and try to rotate it a little back and forth? It wouldn't need to move much.
