That looks really sharp. Im not a big fan of chrome but that bumper and the bezels really set it off, and i like the way the inner grille is still blacked out

Thanks. Yea I agree but we felt like we needed a little chrome on it. Now I just need to decide whether to go with some chrome wheels, gun metal or black wheels.....I just can't seem to make up my mind. I have been thinking about it since we started about 4 years ago.

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1

Well we are back at it. Our goal is to have this painted and on the road by December 20th....We figure one good day to finish prepping, one to paint and a half a day to put it back together. We are still having trouble getting the motor to run right. We have had a couple of plug wires burn and now maybe there is a plug that needs to be changed but this is what you get when you by the cheapest headers you can find. Right?

Anyways here are the pictures from today of us doing some wet sanding.

Well we are still prepping for final coat of paint. When does the prep work end??? Anybody know when or how to stop a perfectionist? How much is to much?

Not much new since the last pictures but this shows it all stripped down and close to ready for paint.

Thanks. We probably have about $200 into the whole bed floor. Thats the floor and we also built the floor frame from rectangular tubing, which you can see back in my thread. We figure that bed will out last the regular floor and if you get a new metal floor it runs you about that much anyways I believe.

I agree but as for the finished product we are really happy. I will be getting some more pics once we get it all put back together.

Here is one of the last items we have that need to be installed to get it on the road. These are for the door latches, we have a recurring problem with the doors popping open while driving down the road. We don't think the latches we have are made for what we are using them for or at least the pressure the door puts on the latches. By the way the company we ordered these solenoids from has been one of the easiest and best to work with. I would highly recommend their products.

Here are the last items to finish.
-Build Brackets for solenoid installation on doors.
-Install liscense plate lights
-Finish door panels
-Buy and install wheels
-Finish installing sound insulation in interior
-Finish installing speakers

The first two is what needs to be done to get this thing on the road. The rest can come after.

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1

Nice project! just read through it all, and I have to agree with Raceline wheels, as far as look and cost they are great. Mine took about 4 weeks longer to get then I was originally quoted but it was worth the wait! But when I ordered mine they hadn't made them in my size and back space yet so they had to program the computer. But good luck on the wheel choice it took me forever and keep up the good work!

Hey Thanks!

I am down to either the Torque Thrust or the Racelines and after seeing your thread I think I want 18" wheels cause I am planning driving the wheels off this when its all finished. I think the 18 will allow a little more meat and I won't have to worry about the wheels as much. But more than anything I like the way your truck is looking.

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1

Here are some more pictures! We are really close. Just have a few finishing touches and then get it aligned, registered and then we will be on the road!!! After that wheels, custom door handles and finish the interior but all in all not much if compared to about 4 years ago when all we had was a frame and drive train.

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1

Hey thanks for all the kind words!!! I am really excited about being this close to getting it on the road!!! Hopefully more pictures soon to come.

On a side note this whole picking wheels is killing me. I can't decide what size, brand, width.....etc. But I do think I am about to jump from the ledge and order some, I should be stressing about other more important things. lol

Here it is in the sunlight! Here is some pics I had to get for insurance reasons, I guess they didn't think it actually existed. Hopefully in March we will be getting some better wheels on it and the door panels finished.

Thanks! We are real happy with it! We wanted something that was nice but also something that we could get in and drive and I think we obtained that.

Now just need to decide about wheels and whether to pinstripe or make it a shop truck and put a logo on the side.
