Re: Is this truck worth $2200?

$1200 tops. Just sell the ATV and you'll have some money.

Re: Is this truck worth $2200?

IMO the truck is worth more than the atv, the atv will lose it's value fast in time the truck will gain in value just sitting in storage.

Re: Is this truck worth $2200?

If you get a title,running/driving,body included,and it`s a shortbed I`d say a coupla thou ain`t so bad.You could have a decent/driving truck for under $3,000.
Just curious what your age/money has to do with it.Am I missing something?

Re: Is this truck worth $2200?

I don't think that is to bad, if it runs and drives, as long as the rust is just limited to the rockers. I don't know where these other people are buying running and driving swb's for $500 to $1000, but I need to go there. Try to get some cash out of him and call it a deal. That 4-wheeler is losing value everyday.

Re: Is this truck worth $2200?

The rockers in the pic look rusted out. Rockers are cheap as long as all the cab supports look good and the rust is just limmited to the lower cab, I say go for it, just look it over real good. I would start at $500 cash you can always go down , but you can't go up once you name a price. A straight short wide is hard to find and getting harder everyday. Good luck

Re: Is this truck worth $2200?

the cab supports, what exactly are those....the sides of the windshields, or like above the cab corners..

and the 70,xxx ,,miles, do yall think those're original miles, or has the odometer rolled over lol

Re: Is this truck worth $2200?

I would bet the odometer is rolled over. what type of engine does it have? running and running good are two different things.. have him put the door back on.. drive it and see what you think,, look underneath for body rot. look up by the sun visors for rust through... which would you use more today? I would agree, ask for cash and trade... but it does look pretty good, but we are only looking at a few pics here, ultimatley its your choice.. make sure it has a clear title... and the correct vin numbers...

let us know what you decide.

Re: Is this truck worth $2200?

The cab supports are the four(2 on each side. One front/one back) boxed members that come out from between the frame and cab out to where the rockers are. They are welded to the bottom of the cab as floor supports. Some call them outriggers, unofficially. They aren`t a big deal, either. If the rot is in the floor it`s attached to,then it gets into a bigger job.

Re: Is this truck worth $2200?

There is no way to give a price without looking at the truck in person. Pics usually makes it look better. Take a look at the truck with someone else who likes old vehicles, they may see something you missed. Crawl under, over and inside every nook and cranny so you now what you are getting yourself into. Then you need to decide if it's going to be a parts truck or are you going to keep it on the road. Take a look through parts catalogs and talk to body shops if you can't do the work your self to help you decide on the price.

Re: Is this truck worth $2200?

Depending on how much rust/bondo it has. If it is not rotted out in any hard to fix areas, and most all of the sheetmetal is usable, plus it runs and drives, I would say arond 2,000 sound right. But like others have said, it is hard to say without seeing in person.

I feel that if it looks as decent in the pics as it is in person and it actually runs/drives/stops $2,200 is a good deal. I must be an idiot because I paid $1,400 for my mostly rust free 67 back in 1996. If that truck was for sale in southwest NY, assuming it ran and had a door, it would have $4-5K in the window. I've actually seen some pretty rusty trucks in TN, and that one appears to be pretty nice.

The guy might be a board member as well, or at least he has good taste in trucks. Check out the background of the pics. There's a green 71-72 with the hood up, then a blue 67-72 (too blurry to tell) up by the house. Either this guy knows his stuff and this truck was a runner, or he may have used it as a parts truck and slapped it back together to sell it.

Good luck to ya. Be careful about having more projects than money.

Re: Is this truck worth $2200?

Just my humble opinion: The truck is worth $2,200 in the hands of someone who will turn it into a project. For someone who wants to drive it everyday, then you should be more careful, make sure the floor isn't a disaster (pull up the carpet if you can!), see how the brakes are, ask him if he ever drove it, when it last had a coolant/trans fluid change, stuff like that.

I'd definitely pay $2,200 for this to tear it down and turn it into something special, but I wouldn't pay $2,200 if I needed a truck to drive and it needed $1,500 of work just drive it safely.

2 projects for someone with little money might be too much. It'd be too much for me because I spend all my money on my kids and wife!

Unless your 68 is 5 lug wheels won't swap without
changing your truck over. (Unless yours is already)
