Electric fan problems

Electric fan keeps cycling on and off. Stays on about a sec and off about a sec. Checked the fan motor, it runs when connected directly to battery. It was working fine 3 weeks ago. Maybe bad relay or controller. Supposed to turn on @ 185 and off @ 170. Also I have the probe in the radiator. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Electric fan problems

Most of those have a circuit breaker. It could be a faulty circuit breaker or the motor is creating an overload.

Re: Electric fan problems

I ordered a 50 amp circuit breaker and relay, hopefully it will arrive tomorrow. If this doesn't work going back to manual fan. Thanks

Re: Electric fan problems

Most likely it's the controller. I've had a couple of the thermal switches go bad over the years with similar results.
