LSA guys in here..fuel pump?

What intank fuel pump are you square body lsa guys using?
255 is not enough. Want to see what other size pumps will fit stock sending unit.
Don't really want to go with high dollar tank setup.(IE holley/tanksinc) If I don't HAVE to.

Walbro 450 not enough?
Side note, man it's been a long time since I've seen you screen name.

This is what I'm using in my builds, custom fabed backets thats fits the stock sending unit

And this one for a gen5 swap

Only downsize is the electrical fitting, the spec sheet only goes to 14a, and terminals go to 16ga only. So if your gonna be drawing more than that, prob gonna need to run some wired through a fitting or something.

Re: LSA guys in here..fuel pump?

Doesn't someone like Racetronix make an upgraded bulkhead connector for the bigger pumps?

Not for a stock sending unit.

That's why I designed and made my own hat to fit exactly like stock. It uses larger connector assembly which can handle more current if needed.

Racetronix sells the 4 pin bulkhead shown In the above picture, but its still stock rated amps.

Was a stock setup using the 6an bulhead for the e85 build part.

This is the hat that fits like stock

Uses 90* bulkhead fittings, an to forgot which fitting, but goes to holley plastic fuel line. Level sender was an to compression fitting which holds it in place.

Ok I see. Will that connector fit in a stock sending unit with a little work? Do you have a part number for it?

The yellow one? Or the white one. White one cant be made to fit without a lot of work. Yellow one fits right in or with slight sanding due to the stamp cut hole. Racetronix sells the pieces.
I dont offer part numbers for connectors since it takes time, sometimes hour or more to track them down. I have one new yellow bulhead and mating outside tank side connector. No o-ring or retaining bracket. Original or new aftermarket will work fine. Basically heat gun the inside of the connector to soften it up and can pull it apart.

Terminals, I might have, I'll update post later, but with no terminals, 14 shipped I'd your in the UsA.

Re: LSA guys in here..fuel pump?

Wound up removing the aluminum tube as the return and used the stock return. Turns out the itty bitty pressures that build up in a sealed gas tank will.force fuel up that dang tube and make a mess

I've got one hat, left. Had 2 made and would consider making more

Clint

I used the e85 safe in tank corrugated hose.. could have used a strait piece of in tank fuel hose if no e85.

Re: LSA guys in here..fuel pump?

Sounds like you got this figured out already but I wound up going with a 320 lph pump on a 87 TBI hanger with a Racetronix C43 Bulkhead Wiring Assembly. That Racetronix wiring uses a 4 pin bulkhead like pictured above (not sure if it's the same one or not) with dual power leads to handle the bigger pumps. Most likely overkill for my HCI LQ9 that's going in my K5 (450hp or so) but I kept find conflicting info about what a 255 pump can handle and didn't want to run in to issues later on and have to drop the tank.

Re: LSA guys in here..fuel pump?

I will be running the Vaporworx controller using map reference for flow with the stock ZL1 pump on my LSA swap. Met up with Carl as he is local to me. Seems like a solid solution to me. Also has system that runs single or dual CTS-V pumps

Re: LSA guys in here..fuel pump?

Sorry no pics. Not that far along yet Installing motor and trans first of the year. Not a square body sorry. Using a 91 Chevy Blazer tank in my 72 with an adapter plate and ring welded in to accept the ZL1 pump. Modifying the pickup depth on the ZL1 pump for the tank. His website is here https://www.vaporworx.com/ Saw a bench set up running and also his 600+ hp LS supercharged 68 Camaro running on it (Whipple I think). Super quiet- pump, not the car ZL1 pump will handle 650 whp and is much less amperage than aftermarket as it uses the pwm pump. No return line to run. Pump is designed for the motor. Why go aftermarket? Will run on map reference or with included fuel line pressure sensor. Not really cheap for the the controller but uses inexpensive stock pump. I was told an added bonus is you do not really need baffles in the tank as motor will run easily for a minute without being submerged in the fuel due to the pumps built in sump tank.
Wanted to add he said he had a deal worked with a big name brand company to start distributing his product. They backed out due to the investment made in the current return type fuel systems. The owner of that company runs Vaporworx controllers in his own cars LOL.
