Red Interior

Anyone have any pics with red carpet/interior? I need to order carpet soon and I'm split on black or a red. I'm worried with the exterior color being similar, might be a little too much and not enough contrast. But the truck has a red dash pad, door panels, and steering column. Unsure of what to do....

Re: Red Interior

I have a similar truck in hugger orange/white.
I considered black interior but with no ac I figured no sense in making more heat in the cab
I ended up with saddle seats, carpet, dash pad and door skins. I re dyed the dash, door cards, and steering wheel with spray can products. Was very easy and held up great. They were originally dark green.
Personally I think when everything is one color it’s just too much.
Very happy with the look

Re: Red Interior

I agree. I am going all paint and vinyl bright red and seat inner pleats, dash pad and carpet a darker red to add contrast

Re: Red Interior

I'd definitely stick with the factory red trim and carpet - just make sure the carpet is the right shade of red to match your 69's trim. It's a classic look. Also note that the 69 red vinyl seat cover is two tone. Here are some reference pics for you:

The interior upholstery and carpet of my '70 Shortie is going to be all Bright Red. I may be sorry, but I guess I can always change it later if I don't like it. I have enough Black pieces to re-do it in Black if I want to.

That looks's pretty sharp. I still have the original seat but it has a cover on, might need to pull it off and see if it has that two tone on it.

Re: Red Interior

Just a bump on this. Stoked that I stayed the maroon route. Ignore the blue seat for now as I have original buckets going in once my covers arrive, but I'm thinking this is going to look sharp. Can't wait to get it done.

Two tone for the seat vinyl ?! Wow, learn something new every day! I always thought the top vinyl on The seat in my 69 had faded over the years and created a mismatch........
