Re: Abigale's Build Thread, 1969' Blazer K5 350 4wd

Well i live out here in Colorado, about 9200 alt so snow is BAD i have to have a FWD vehicle to get around or it is down right dangerous. She is going to be turned into a almost everyday driver, lol at least till i get that stick shift 4 cylinder car Ive been looking for in the summer.
I'm working on her today actually, I'm installing camshafts timing gears and lifters, i have the other parts all dissembled so all i have to do is slap the parts on. I have all the gaskets and parts. If i can find my camera ill take some pics today for everyone
Heres the fun part of the day, when i started disassembling most of this engine, it was cause of a few collapsed and stuck lifters, i wasn't surprised she hadn't ran since 1987 its 2010 lol This is what i found,

-not stock engine mid 1970's
-1 extremely stuck lifter
-3 collapsed lifters
-aftermarket headers that don't fit properly that are melting my spark plug boots
-1 cam lobe that was nearly chewed completely off
-almost best part,,, 2 different sets of lifters!! thats right they took two different lifters and used them in this engine 1/8 inch difference
-BEST PART a harmonic balancer that was not bolted on just placed on free floating
It almost seems they were not done with this truck but they were, and they were driving it too lol good thing the transmission went out on them before my truck had major damages.

Well my brother and i have been busting our buts lately, we had issues witht he harmonic balncer basicly needed to drill and tap new holes to get it to bolt on and the crank pulley. we got just bout everthing done. Last step is too just adjust the rockers, and 30 min of simple hookups.

and i am still looking for that digi camera lol
