4l60e 4x4 vs 2wd tail mounting location
I have a 4x4 4l60e that I am using for mock-up in my 70 c10 2wd SB. I will be going to a 2wd transmission but would still like to begin building my trans crossmember.
My question is: Do the 2WD and 4WD 4l60e transmissions utilize the same mounting holes? In the same location? Or is the 2wd mounting point further back on the longer tail shaft? If the hole mounts on both are the same size and distance apart, that will work as I will build it to the 4x4 and just leave the mount clamped on the frame until I get my 2wd. If not, I won’t drill the tail mount holes until I get the 2wd. Thanks for the help. |

Re: 4l60e 4x4 vs 2wd tail mounting location
700R4/4L60 & early 4L60E's had mount provisions on the case & are in the same location no matter 4wd or 2wd.
NO mount provision on modular/removable bell 4L60E cases. The T-case adaptor or the 2wd extension housing decides the mount spacing/location. |

What type would a 2002 Avalanche 4l60e be then?
I appreciate the help. |

Modular/Removable Bellhousing 4L60E......You will at least need a 2wd Extension Housing to do the mock-up with.
