Tko trans stuck in 5th gear

My LS with Tko transmission will go into 5th sometimes but not out. When it doesn't go into 5th it will groan for lack of a better word. It isn't a grind, like gears usually make. You can pull on the shifter hard and it will just move around afterwards, but still be struck in 5th. I can get it out of 5th with a prybar on the shift rod. Midshift conversion, McLeod hydraulic throwout bearing and new clutch. Thoughts? I can't be the only one this has happened to. Makes me want to park it for another year.

Bad or loose shift fork? Are you saying that the shifter moves around in the 5th gear spot or through all the gears while stuck in fifth?

It stays stuck in 5th and the shifter just moves around. Once it's out of 5th, it will shift into all other gears including reverse.

Re: Tko trans stuck in 5th gear

Sounds alot like a shift fork issue. It could be bent or broken. It also could be loose on the shift rail. Most transmission and transfer cases i have been in used a roll pin to hold it on place but some are a set screw. I don't k ow this trans but is it possible the fork is backward or installed on the wrong gear set

Definitely sounds like a shift fork issue. I would send an email to Paul at 5speeds.com. When I built my T-5 he was very helpful answering my dumb questions and was very quick to respond.
