4.8L swap?

Has anybody swapped a carbed 4.8/th350 into a C10? Any idea cost and difficulty of doing this?

Re: 4.8L swap?

Lots of people (though usually EFI, not carb'd). Check the LSx Swap subforum for more info.

Re: 4.8L swap?

Im doing a 4.8 but not carb'd lol

Depending on if you have to buy a carb its easier and cheaper to go with the stock efi. You can get the stock harness reworked for around $500, compared to $650 for the MSD box and carb intake then you still need to buy a carb if you dont have it already. Other then that buy some shorty ebay headers for 150 bucks and a flywheel to hook up to the t350 for around $100. Stock oil pan and accessories will work. Use your stock radiator. Other then the cost of the motor you can do it for under 1K

What flex plate did you use to hook the 350 up?

What is your intent for your truck? Two of the major advantages of an LS swap are the EFI and overdrive transmission. These are the reasons for the decent fuel mileage an LS is capable of and you are losing both of them in your swap. If you are doing it for an upgrade in horsepower, a 4.8 is decent but isn't anything a gen 1 smallblock can't produce. In my eyes the combination of your swap isn't worth the time or effort.
