ls1.com has thousands of swaps unbeliveable amount of information there. I personally have done two swaps, A6.0 4l80e into my 68 lemans convert and a 5.3 4l60e into a 89 c-1500 silverado.

We have some healthy LT1s roaming around in the Upstate of SC...
one stock bottom end (132k) with H/C going 9s (1/4) with issues.
Several others getting it done too!!
Looking at getting one for my 88 LX Coupe so I can go to the LTx shootout!

the genII sbc LT1/LT4 swaps were hot several years ago. No days you're passing on power you could have by selecting one.

The gen III/IV sbc motors are the way to go. From 4.8L on up to 7.0L.... and more with the aftermarket LSX blocks.

Doesn't the 8.1 still count as an lsx, or are we counting that as a Gen III/IV big block?

Yay my thread got popular lol and Shon I like your style, I've always wanted to put a SBC in one of those fox bodies, right now I have a LT1 and a 4L60E i pulled out of a 95 Buick Roadmaster stationwagon, getting a 6speed from a trans am and rebuilding that LT1 then dropping both in my truck has crossed my mind a few times, i could get decent power out of the Pontiac 350 but id love getting good mpg's so I wont feel so bad at the gas station

I think the achilies heal of the LT1 is the optispark. To me it just made it relatively unreliable.

Ive owned several LT1s never had many Optispark problems...They last atleast 100K.
Iron LT1 & Iron Vortec heads share the same port design & flow VERY well. Then you got the LT4 head. I see no reason to adapt gen 1 heads to a LT1.

having not done the conversion myself I guess I can't really say firsthand, but there are countless threads on the subject. Same goes for machining SBC manifolds to fit the lt platform.

Ends up being kind of the stepchild motor. Its not the pioneer like the sbc, but it never got all the way to "modern fuel injected", quite like the ls series. I mean there are some cool TPI manifolds, and it was cool to get fuel injection before things like the Holley and Edel-broke stand alone systems came out in force.
