Ultra Rare 1969 Yenko C10!

My Uncle Ron called me today and wanted me to go with him to check out a very special 1969 C10. He is always trying to play tricks on folks, but I ain’t no fool. I needed to pick up a Big Gulp drink and Beef Jerky for lunch anyway.

We turned off the main highway onto Rabbit Valley Road which is a narrow dirt road lined with “NO TRESPASSING” and “BEWARE OF THE HOG” signs. He said the hog’s name was Bunny and she was meaner than any dog! I stuffed a piece of the Beef Jerky in my pocket just in case Bunny attacked me. I knew I could outrun my Uncle, so that was a good thing.

Finally the road opened up into a big construction site. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. A rare 1969 Yenko C10 truck complete with 427!

As it turns out my Uncle Ron had a brother named Don. Uncle Ron owned a Ford dealership back in the 60’s. His twin brother Don owned a Chevy dealership up north. Uncle Don’s dealership modified Big Block Camaros, Chevelles and Novas by swapping out the 396 engine with the 427. On April 1st, 1969 he built this Daytona Yellow Yenko C10.

I knew it would be foolish to ask if the truck was for sale but I did get a quick picture. I think this truck would be the center of attention in the parking lot of the Easter Peeps Museum. What do you think?

Would've been sweet with the Camaro RS headlight setup, indeed, like the Z/10. Isn't that what it was called? GM could have sold a lot of them, had they made them.

yeah that one 67 or 68 concept truck that had a RS style nose on it has burned a image in my mind that my grandpa and I started doing the measuring and some initial layout work to actually make 67/68 Camaro style RS grille and headlights into a pickup nose so it would look like Chevy did it, that aftermarket setup thats out now is cool, but too flashy.

No more like the "Golden Cameo" concept truck. I like the 67/68 Camaro all blacked out RS nose over the 69. Might be biased as I've had a 68 RS as my first car and still have it today.

Re: Ultra Rare 1969 Yenko C10!

67/68s are THE Camaro. All the rest are diversions from their origin. And that's just always been my opinion. I never got what seemed to be the great popularity of the '69.

Re: Ultra Rare 1969 Yenko C10!

I like all three versions of the 1st Gen Camaro quite a bit, for me I like the quarter gills, and the wheel arch lines that carry into the body on the 69’s. I like the 68-69 one piece door glass more than the vent window setup in 67. From the front and rear I like all the 67-69’s, each year has its strong points. No markers on 67 makes for a really clean look too.

The 1st Gen is why I love and own/have owned a couple 5th gens. I wasn’t up for paying stupid money for a 1st Gen that is 60’s tech. I can have a pretty nice tribute that is faster, handles and stops better and has the modern touches to go with it.

Not sure what a powerdome hood is, but the cowl-induction hood is one thing that makes it a Yenko

Re: Ultra Rare 1969 Yenko C10!

^ I had a '69 Camaro RS. The hide-away headlights look much better, imo.

The '67 and '68 Camaros looked much better without the hide-away headlights than the '69 does.

Re: Ultra Rare 1969 Yenko C10!

Good fun. I like it! Great idea for an SWB that is too far gone to bring back to some semblance of original. Some similar but more subdued Yenko type mods would make a cool coulda-been truck.
