Yes, it's a Fiat 500e (full EV) we call Zippy. It may or may not have been a slight distraction. But I can tell you it has a new rear sway bar and stereo upgrade. Abarth coilovers are waiting to go in.

BTW, your dash turned out quite well. I didn't realize you needed to or could modify your gauges that way.

Saw this yesterday. Just finished. Sick, sick, sick!

Did you ever think of making a front flip hood? Would have gotten rid of your hinges and opened up space for under dash stuff. I'm sure most think it was a stock British thing and think nothing of it.

Two more thoughts:
engine turned instrument panel
Take a rectangle sheet of metal. Run 2 bead rolls, one 1/2" from edge, one 2" from that one. Inside center rectangle put a bunch of louvers. Replace the ugly plastic piece on the engine.

I have been following your build from here in England. I am stunned by your craftmanship!
If I had an ounce of your skill, I wouod be proud of that. I too have a 66 Hillman Minx that I am trying to restore. The body was ten times worse than that car you cut the front off. I had no inner wings at all and very rusty front wings. I am looking forward to seeing any more progress - keep up the fantastic work!

Have loved the build, has been an amazing journey, I look forward to each new post!

I got married a few weeks ago and decided to build a car for the occasion. My father has a '63 Hillman Minx Series IIIC.
I picked up two 1964 Hillman Minx's to build one good one out of.

This was the one that eventually became the finished car.

I worked hard on it for a year, restoring everything i could.

This is how it all ended up.

Plans are to put a Nissan CA18DET into it and keep it as stock looking as possible.

Frizzle, your build has been a huge help in me getting my build completed, and your standard of build is second to none!
Keep up the amazing work!

Thank you Jeff. I just worked on it today for the first time in I don't know how long. Still finishing up the sound deadener. Went way overboard with it. Almost done. Then the wiring can go in.

Your car sounds like a serious challenge!

Hi Frizzle,
A challenge is one word for it. I don't want to hijack your thread with my rubbish, but I thought I'd share an example of what I am up against. The repaired inner wing does look a bit odd, that's because I had nothing to base it on. That was made using a bench vice, a hammer and lots of swearing.
All the repair sections I have made myself. There just does not seem to be any new / old stock panels for these old Rootes cars.
If I ever get this car running it will be a miracle, perhaps I should have let the Junk yard cube it.
I can't wait to see your car finished.

allways suprized at wat the english consider restorable , the wet and near the coastline silty climate in the UK in general isnt realy good for cars
dont think the car wouldve passed MOT here even after the repair as the inner fender is a load bearing part of the cars structure

I have consistently enjoyed reading the progress you've made. Having spent the last week reading this thread, I must commend you for such outstanding work. I have read hundreds of vehicle build threads over the years and I can honestly say your attention to detail is stunning.
