Vortec Head Questions

I am wondering is these springs will fit on stock vortec heads? http://www.compperformancegroupstore...ct_Code=981-16
I m wondering becuase i am thinking about putting some vortecs on a 350 or 400 small block in my 69 c-10. I have many threads and articles on the guide bosses and how youhave to cut them for springs for more lift. i also read about some beehive springs that work with no machining. i looked and these have the same inside diameter so i don't know how they wouldn't work but have know idea. the cam i plan on running is the Comp 270H http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...x?csid=78&sb=2
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Vortec Head Questions

You might have to remove the dampner from the inside of the springs because GM made the spring seats to fit springs without a dampner. It's no big deal. You must shorten the valve guide to provide .060 clearence between the top of the valve seal and the bottom of the retainer at max lift. 270 Magnum is the perfect cam for the street. Do not use an AIR GAP style intake because they hesitate and are cold blooded when the weather is cool, I will not install one on a customers engine. If you use aftermarket valve covers check to see if your rocker arms rub on the inside of the covers by the pushrods. I sometimes have to grind the rockers so they will clear. I had a customer put cast aluminum covers on an engine I sold him and it would only run with the covers off!!!!!!!!!! The valve covers were rubbing on the rockers! Expect lots of POWER!
