My latest eBay acquisitions

Just got these in the mail yesterday. I can't wait to clean them up, get them repainted and get them on the truck. Of course, I guess the truck has to be assembled before plates can be on . They'll look good on the garage wall for a while though. Luckily I found the law in the Illinois Vehicle Code that says I can run these plates on my truck.

I think they're in great shape for 40 year old pieces of tin.

Re: My latest eBay acquisitions

Very cool! A couple months ago I picked up a brand new set of unissued 1968 Colorado plates. I also checked and found out that I can register them, but I'm not sure if I'm going to or not. Right now it has collector plates that only need to be renewed evey 5 years. I might just swap them out for shows.

Cool! I got a 1967 SC plate for my truck. Haven't put it on yet.

Re: My latest eBay acquisitions

That's pretty cool. I have the old black and yellow California plates on my '67, but they are actually the originally issued plates. Kinda adds a little originality to it.

The only thing I can say is check with your DMV, Secretary of State or whoever takes care of that kind of thing with you. For Illinois it is the Secretary of State office that does all the vehicle registration. If I'm going to run these plates, I'll have to purchase current antique vehicle plates and keep them with me at all times.

Check out the antique stores, especially in the Lakes area, I see them all the time there - I've got Iowa plates going back to 1918 on my walls. Usually they are a couple dollars each, though it's a little harder to find a pair - good luck!

Nice score, Colorado is a pain in the butt about old plates, but I worked around it. My plate frame cracks up my friends-

Re: My latest eBay acquisitions

Speaking of old license plates , is there somewhere you can send an old license plate to get it repainted or freshened up. I have one for my 1969 C10 which says farm truck, but I really believe it was used for a farm truck.....LOL
