I dont spray clear but I'd try that...
How is your ventilation around the panel..do you have good air movement?
Did you do test sprays on paper to see how the pattern fan looked?
Got the HTE 1.3 tip. I have had good results with the Nason clear with my old cheap HVLP gun...It & the activator are fresh date coded & newly opened...I will try more test sprays on paper later this week.

Thank you skymortar....will try later this week when I get a chance...just seems to go on "Dry"....my old gun is just the opposite...goes on too wet & gets runs in the clear if I am not super carefull.

Re: Affordable Paint Gun

Update on the HF "Black Widow" gun.
I finally got around to painting some parts for my 72 stepside ( bedsides ,rear fenders, tailgate & steps. This gun does work good on BC/CC paint...much better than the cheapo gun I was using. The trick is getting the correct air pressure...I first was using 30-32 psi as recommeded on "Youtube videos". after doing a lot of test spraying on scrap pcs. , I found 25psi to work great on both the base & clear that I am using....no runs at all and smooth finish !
It pays to experiment with your paint before diving in & getting bad results !
