What Backspacing is Ideal for me?

Looking into ordering some either 15 or 16 inch rims for my 70, I currently have a 5.5/7 drop on my truck (not driving yet, still working on paint), and am looking for some original appearing rims on Summit.

I know backspace for stock is 4.00", is this ideal for my drop? Also, should I run a 15 or 16x8 or a 15 or 16x7?

Tips and ideas are welcome!

Thanks in advance.

Re: What Backspacing is Ideal for me?

I'm thinking of going 16 for the height gains. Ill probably get coker white walls.

No one has suggestions on backspacing?

Well your very limited in front if you have drop spindles. Any more than 4" bs on a 15 will rubthe a arms. On rear i run a 15x12 wide with 6.5 bs

Got it. Regardless of 15 or 16, what width should I get? 7 or 8 inch? Any tire price benefits between the two? As stated I am running a 5.5/7. Looking to make this a good driver (yes I know it's low and I can handle it)

Re: What Backspacing is Ideal for me?

Honestly your best bet is probably a 7" that way you can run a 225 ish tire. I run a 8" with 255, 60 for the side wall height but that was so wide it rubbed the outer when turning. To solve it i bought 1100$ pb arms to move the wheels in 1". If you go with a 7" you can get a taller tire with out being to wide to rub. You will find that with that much drop a short sidewall puts the xmember and arms way to low for normal driving. I ended up bagging mine for drivability
