Unhappy 1988 5.7 v8 motor question

how would i go about trying to fix the timing? had the motor back in and with open headers it seemed to run perfect but not that it has exhaust and back pressure the timing seems off and it hesitates when i give it gas like 80% of the time atleast. any help would be super appreciated. thought id have all the mechanical stuff done and this and another problem came up. thank you

1988 chevrolet k1500 shortbox, regular cab, 5.7, 6-lug 14bolt rear with 4:10 limited slip, 2500 leafs, extra leaf. front gears are still 3:73 =/ ride height is 3-4inches over stock. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3346228

I'd do a search for driveability issues and/or TBI's. There should be some posts that have suggestions on testing various components.
