I think the AC clutch is smoked, better to get a new compressor?

Here is a video of the AC turned on:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lbA9l604pc

its not cooling anymore and it looks like the clutch has some loose parts:

I assume at this point its better to replace the whole compressor than mess around with a clutch swap. Do I do another A6 or go for a newer unit like a Sanden??

Thanks

Derek.-

Rock Auto has rebuilt clutches, as i couldn't find a new one anywhere. I just put one on my truck and had the a/C topped up ( 134) and its working great and really cooling. As Leddzepp said new compressor would be best but that depends on your budget.

New compressor means a recharge, I would just change the clutch.

You can replace the clutch easily without discharging the system. You need special tools though. It is not like the Sandon in the video.

You should be able to rent the tools for removing and replacing the clutch. As has been noted, you don't have to discharge the system to do it. It's what I would do, especially if it was blowing cold before this.
