Re: Engine Color

I'm building a little 350 for a 95 camaro project and painted it GM blue, I got asked the same question why I painted a chevy engine ford blue. But I think for that era truck I'd go oragne. Larry, had I seen that grey/cast color at the store when I was shopping I would of done that! looks slick.

Re: Engine Color

I say orange.

What color will the exterior/interior/engine bay be? The only time I wouldn't paint the engine block orange is if the exterior and engine bay were orange, but even then if the inner wheel wells are black an orange engine would still look good in an orange engine bay.

Re: Engine Color

Orange engine and white headers ... make it period correct haha! Well that's what I did to my first few Chevys. Cars and trucks, maybe it was a local thing?

Re: Engine Color

My thoughts on it:

-If you want Original look and (in my opinion) no decrease in value to the vehicle get vintage correct Orange. Personally I find the Orange puts me to sleep..if you've seen 1 orange SBC chevy you've seen a million....

-If you intend to sell someday I wouldn't do black. It will look like a crate motor and (in my opinion) will potential decrease the value in some peoples eyes. Some people don't like "cheap" crate motors...personally I could care less. I'm just passing along what I've heard others say while shopping/at shows.

-If you're keeping it long term why not have fun paint it some crazy colour no one else does and have some personality! (this is the route I'm going). There are some great options out there that will make it pop

I was going to go with some gaudy high metal flake purple on my camaro engine (under the flat plasti dip it's purple) but couldn't find any in a can to spray.
