Yeah, don't, this is just my opinion but keep the clean lines of the truck, bed rails have no use on the bed unless you're going into a hauling business.

Re: OEM Bed rail install instructions

Here are some pictures of my 87 that had factory bedrails.
I sold the truck so i cant get any measurements but thought these pics might help.
These are the best angles I can come up with from the pictures I have.
Hopefully they can give some frame of reference.
I kept the rails when I sold the truck, ya would think I would have took some measurements for when I put them on my truck.

I think I figured it out, but measurements would help verify what I found. Here's something I pulled from FB. It matches what I see on the actual rails themselves as far as pre-punched holes.

Re: OEM Bed rail install instructions

So I got two sets of bed sides with rails and believe it or not the dimensions were not the same. Who would have guessed! were these a deal installed item?
I got a couple measurements before I compared it the other set of sides. but if there's something in particular you want, let me know.
This is the first hole from the stake pocket at the tailgate end.

I need 3 measurements specifically,

1. How far is the rear rail mount from the rear stake pocket?
2. How far is the rear rail mount from the inside of the bed?
3. How far is the front rail mount from the inside of the bed?

Thanks!

Re: OEM Bed rail install instructions

[QUOTE=Hart_Rod;8744697]I need 3 measurements specifically,

1. How far is the rear rail mount from the rear stake pocket?
Like pictured above 2 1/2" from edge of pocket.
second set of rails on brown bed side is 1 3/4" or 1" from edge of pocket to edge of rail bracket

2. How far is the rear rail mount from the inside of the bed?
White bed 1 5/8" to center
brown bed vary from 1"- 1 1/4"

3. How far is the front rail mount from the inside of the bed?
They are the same front to back white bed 1 5/8"
brown 1 1/4"

this is the brown one

Re: OEM Bed rail install instructions

LOL, figures that the measurements are different. They could be ordered with the truck or as a kit. I'm assuming the dealer would put them on even if ordered. As you can tell by the instructions above, it is somewhat ambiguous on how to mount them, so that is probably why they are all over the place.... Thanks!

Re: OEM Bed rail install instructions

wish I could have been more help. For what it's worth, I like the more centered look of the white ones

Thanks, it gets me a little closer. I agree on the white one, I think the location matches what the instruction sheet says.
