$20.00 eBay score

I finally got around to installing these door panels I picked up off eBay a couple of years ago. I actually have a better set of the plastic panels I want to install but I wanted to pick up a set of new woodgrain inserts first. These will do me for now. I hear that Cheyenne Superman redoes them and I e-mailed him but no reply. I e-mailed Jerry Brown and he told me the repop woodgrain inserts are really good. Anyone have any experience with the repops? I was at the Pate swap meet last month and was at the Kenny's trucks booth and he told me they could no longer get the repop wood grain panels and the supply was drying up, I need to see about tracking a set down if they are good. Anyone else hear about this?

Re: $20.00 eBay score

Mike, Jerry's inserts are originals that he has redone, they are so close to the original pattern I don't recall being able to tell them apart. The ones he sends out are in such good condition I actually ended up buying a set that hadn't been redone yet, they matched my truck a little better than the refurbished ones.

Re: $20.00 eBay score

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that. I asked him about redoing mine and they made it sound like they didn't redo them anymore so that has me wondering about the repops. I may call them and get a better idea when I get home. I'm at work now and will be home next week.

Nice door panels for any money.
You didn`t see Cheyenne Super Man at Pate?I never talked to Jerry about his re-done inserts.Didn`t know he did them.I just found this guy that grain-paints car stuff, real nice.I`m going to send him an odd insert I have to experiment with and use for a display.I`d like to have him do me a pair, along with dash parts sometime.

Re: $20.00 eBay score

Tim,

Funny you mention that, I may have and didn't know it, lol. I did run into a guy there that had 2 sets of genie plastic door panels and wanted $250 each for them. Thery were very very nice but no woodgrain inserts. He said he used to work for Golden State Pickup Parts and he said they used to buy used door panels, repaint and sell them. He said he had kept these 2 pair before they sold out. I didn't really need them because I have a really nice set that I'm eventually going to install. In the reply I got back from Jerry Brown he said the woodgrain repops they sell are what they use in all the trucks they do and matched the originals very well. I was just wondering if anyone had ever tried a set of repops. Then when I talked to Kenny it alarmed me that I better move fast if I want a set.

Kaleb, I'll try calling him or e-mailing again when I get home, I'm overseas right now.I heard good things about his panels and I think I would rather try that.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

Re: $20.00 eBay score

Sorry about the incorrect info Mike, I should have mentioned in my first post that when I got mine from him it was in Dec of '06.

Re: $20.00 eBay score

Hey Chris,

No your info was correct. He said he used to redo them but the way he made it sound they were not happy with the way they came out and so they started selling the repops. Did you say one time you had visited his shop? I bet that would be a cool trip, I'd like to get turned loose in there for awhile LOL. He must have a lot of goodies rat holed back. I talked to him on the phone one time about a speedminder buzzer and he sez...yeah you know I probly got 2 or 3 of those around I'll just have to dig around and see. I wound up finding one somewhere else and never got back with him on it. He must have a lot of rare parts buried in that shop. I got some stuff from him in the late eighties and still have some real old flyers that he used to mail out. Parts were cheap and plentiful back then and best of all mostly NOS.

Re: $20.00 eBay score

Yes, I have visited his shop, it's pretty impressive, lots of good stuff. Funny thing, even though he's a shop owner, he still saves the best of the best stuff for himself, just like we would!

He's a few pics, I didn't take any inside, I have no idea why.
