'97 C1500 Transmission Question

I have a '97 C1500 2wd standard cab and am in need of a transmission. I see listings that show a difference between the standard cab and the extended cab. I thought all 4l60E trans cases were the same on the 2wd trucks. Does anyone know what would be different between the two??

Re: '97 C1500 Transmission Question

Only thing I could think of is the length of the tail shaft housing. Not sure though, as I never ran across it. Why not just have your original one rebuilt (and beefed up) ?

Re: '97 C1500 Transmission Question

The extended cab has a two piece driveshaft, but I am not aware of the tailshaft housing being different on the 2wd with the different models. There is a difference in the 2wd and the 4wd but that's it.

I echo what Palf said, get the existing oen rebuilt and beefed up.
