700r4 or th350???

So I know that there has been a lot of debate on 700r4 vs. th-350/400... Now I have come to the cross road of which one should I put in with my situation. I have a 70' c-10 chevy longbed. I am having a 383 stroker built and have 3.08 gears right now. I am rebuilding the rear-end so the options with different gears is there. I plan on doing some towing, not often other than in the summer taking the popup camper in the mountains.

If I could get pros and cons of the 700r4... how is the highway speed at 65-80? rpm? Gas mileage? ect?

Thanks,
-Michael

Re: 700r4 or th350???

I'm running a 70 stepside with 350 & 700-4R & 3.08 gears. I believe it is the perfect combination. Unless you have a wild cam it should work good for you. It will run down the road & you barely hear the engine. It will pull long hills on the interstate without downshifting with the A/C on. If you are going to do some towing you can drop it down to 3rd & still not over rev.

Re: 700r4 or th350???

id like to know the differences as well cause i just got a 700r4 in a truck this past month and i am debating replacing my th350 in my 71 k5 that is getting really worn out with that 700r4 so any info on the 700r4 over the th350 would be mighty helpful thanks
