700r4 question

Hey guys, I need some input. I'm getting ready for a trans swap and want to know if anyone has bought from bowtie overdrives. Found a 700r4 that will fit my needs for around 1500. All new internals, etc...
Where have you guys shopped and how has it worked out?

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!!

Re: 700r4 question

Bought my whole setup from BTO. I felt it was reasonable and for a non mechanic like myself, it made the whole installation easy. Hoping to fire her up today!

Re: 700r4 question

BTO has a good reputation. Are you buying your trans directly from them or is this from someone else selling a BTO trans? If it's someone else, I'd be wary about purchasing it. I just got burned buying a "used" TCI trans off of somebody. Never again.

Re: 700r4 question

I used BTO, I haven't started it yet, but I did a simular thread before I bought one and they seem to have a good reputation.

Re: 700r4 question

I always buy my transmissions and engines from the Junk yard and then build them as I need them, as I get the cash.

Re: 700r4 question

Too bad you aren't down here....our guys build one for you for $850-$950 and they are tough as nails so I have been told. They were written up in Custom Classic Trucks this last year as well. The master builder has opened his own shop and just rebuilt my TH-350...he did a fantastic job! Best yet is that he's only a few miles from where I live.
