I don't know what to say.I think Longhorn Man should look at this one.If they made them I would say that is a Stepside Longhorn.Maybe it's just an optical illusion and it is a long step.

C-20 Longhorn beds are 104-inches, inside.

One-ton stepside beds are 108.25 inches, inside.

Both had 133-inch wheelbase.

This info is from my 1969 Dealers Book.

your book is wrong.
The C/20 step side had a 127 inch wheel base, and an 8 foot bed.
The C/30 stepside had a 133 inch wheel base, and a 9 foot bed.
They do look goofy, but they have a small following.
This, (without clicking on the auction) looks to be a normal one ton step side.

After clicking on it... there is no such thing as a longhorn stepside. ALL longhorns were fleets. Never was a longhorn made with a step side bed.
Starting price is waytoo high... he'll be lucky to get 1500 for that in most parts of the country on a 25 word description.

hmm, he has no spare tire rack on the outside of his bed. I think that's why it looks particularly long. Normally a spare tire would make it look shorter.

What you have there is a 9' Stepside. Fleetsides came in 6.5', 8', and 8.5' Longhorn beds. Stepsides came in 6.5', 8', and 9' beds. Both Longhorns and 9' Stepsides had the 133" wheelbase chassis, and I think the 9' Stepsides were C/30-3500 1 ton only.

My little brother calls those "Klan" trucks. You know the ones you always see in the movies with the idiots in their robes hanging off the sides of it while shooting down some backroad or across a field. That extra long step has room for more than one idiot to stand on (cuts down the number of trucks they have to have).

Just to clarify what book it is, it is the 1969 Chevrolet Truck Sales book that dealers used in ordering trucks for sale, whether special order or for stock. I find it hard to believe that the very book used to order from GM would be wrong, when it listed the details that so many of us swear by today.

i misread where you said longhorn, I thought it said long step.
I was thinking you said both the long step and one ton step had 133 inch wheel bases.

So...you could drop a Longhorn bed on a 9' C-30 frame and have a Longhorn...since it is just a 133" 1-ton frame just like the Longhorns. I always wondered if you could do that.

yup. The only thing that wouldn't be right, is the model number.
So a longhorn bed and a repro SPID and no one would ever know. The mounting points would even match up.

9' Stepside 1tons have been around forever.It`s this frame that they modified a Fleetside bed to fit and call it a Longhorn.After`72,1t Stepsides were 8'.

Truck is a 9 foot bed step side- only availale in 3/4 or 1 ton (I think) they are the same length as the longhorn frame not many of them left around. True old work truck by the way the cheyenne emblem loos to be a ten model so probably a stick on.
