Question Help!gmc grille poor fit

How is everyone doing?I am restoring a '71 gmc short box.I have purchased new front fenders and a new rad support.I also purchased a new chrome grille that fits very poorly.Can someone who has also installed a new grille but one that has fit o.k. please let me know where they purchased it?Thanks

Welcome to the boards from Pennsylvania. We love pictures, post some when you get chance.

The grille may not be the problem. When installing body panels, GM used shims on the vehicles at the factory. You may need to shim some panel and move some stuff around to get the grille to fit right. I removed my cowl and put it back on when I was replacing my grille. I put the shim in the wrong location and the cowl was way out making the back of the hood look too high. Check out the picture below. It's fixed it since this picture was taken.

Do you still have the old grill? If you do throw it on there and see if it fits, if it does the new grill is your problem. If it doesn't, your alignment of the fenders needs work...

cool, that happens more than you might think. Many ppl just getting into the trucks don't even know they aren't the same. (Myself included, I learned it the hard way, but it was with some one else's truck and money)
