Rear Brakes....Help

OK, I'm trying to get my new rear brakes back together and I have a couple questions.

1. Where do all these f-in parts go!!!!????

2. Do I have to put the emergency brake brackets stuff back on if I am not going to have an emergency brake at all? I'm thinkin not, but want to make sure there is not some secret to these things.

3. Any pics of assembled brakes would be helpful. My big 67-72 truck assembly manual has zero on brakes and I don't have the shop manual (Santa hopefully).

Thanks.

P.S. I could swear there was a similiar topic a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find it.

Here's the thread. I got a Haynes manual for 67-87 trucks, had everything I have needed to know so far. The brake parts wil really only go one way and fit properly except that the shorter shoe goes in front. If this thread is still in tomorrow, I'll scan you in a few pages and email 'em to ya if you don't get it figured out.

thanks for the pics and links. What about the e-brake stuff.....can I leave it out?

I was able to score all Raybestos parts for a steal. I got the front calipers, pads, rear drums, new shoes, adjuster kit, spring kit, and wheel cylinders for around $150!!! I think they want about $90 per loaded caliper from a couple of the vendors I checked.

No problem. I am shooting enamel to all the little pieces anyway. I know you will never see them, but hey it has to be right! LOL

A wise mechanic once told me "when doing drum brakes, always do 1 side at a time, so when you get stumped you can always compare to the other side" That was my father in law that told me that after i tore my rear brakes apart on my 82 GMC
Glad to see all you guys helping out with pics

Yeah, great advice. My problem is that I tore the whole thing apart months ago so the rearend and axles could be powder coated. This is what I am starting with.

WOW!!!!! that looks so sweeeeeet. Some day maybe I'll give the 72 that kind of treatment, but it will probably turn to dust before then.
