Do you think this could have been a dealer add on, kinda like the rear bumpers. Reason I ask is I had a older local gentleman tell me he "Thought" that dealerships would paint the red/black strip between the trim to break up the white.

I know its hard to what if things because you could literally what if everything

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread

I am painting the dash on my 62 Custom C10 and would like to paint the glove box door inset the correct dark gray color. Does anyone know of a rattle can color/brand that comes close? Should this be satin or gloss or ?? Thanks for your help.

And thanks to 60-66 for the reference picture!

Bob

I suppose anything is possible , Chevrolet never did this but I suppose the new owner could request it. Ive collected a LOT of dealer pictures with these trucks in the showroom or on the lot. Not one picture is like that , But , its impossible to say if one or two possibly may have done this without some documentation.

How "rare" is the '62 day/night mirror... my 3rd optbut scored one intact. Every other truck had standard.

1963 frame off restored back original down to the correct bolts, screws, paint and engine, video is on youtube. This should help if you want to see original. (The oak in the bed instead of pine and an passenger sun visor are the only things not original)

Beautiful truck!

Did you leave that one item non factory for personal taste or to test the purists?

I'm wondering if anybody would have a picture with the dimensions of the cab from factory. I'm concerned my cab may have moved a little bit when I was taking the floor apart. thanks

How many are aware of a date code stamped in the bed wood. Mine is a 66 SWB and has a date code stamp. Just throwing it out there.

That date code has been noted on a few trucks here, but most beds don't survive well enough for the stamp to remain visible. Also, I've noticed most that are reported are from '66. Not sure on the significance of that fact. Can I ask where your truck was assembled?

Are you sure it is '62.
I purchased a re-pop mirror arm and put my '73 nova mirror on it.

Yes. I have had the truck since 1998 and know the previous owners. The original tan was under the rattle can paint. Probably never removed since installed. Short of junk yards there was no parts swapped except front fenders, now I got 2 nos ones to put on.

Fawn Beige and Cameo white are the two colors for the dash

Im slipping , forgot about the gray. The only reference I find in the data book on that color is Charcoal Gray.

Hey guys, I've got a primer paint question:
I know the bed and front sheet metal got black primer, cap and doors got red oxide primer.
What color primer did the cowl covers and cowl vent get?
Also, and this is pretty important to me for my build, what color primer did the '60-62 grille, headlight doors and bumpers get?

The factory primer/sealer on the cowl extensions and vent grill were red oxide, the bumper and front grill were black.

Thanks BHAP and 60-66! My 61 has a darker gray colored dash and the glovebox has gray too. This is factory colors and I want to eventually paint the dash. I think I have found the correct color and will send a post after I test it on some other metal to see if its a match. Appreciate ya’ll!
