Thoughts on converting to 5 lug

I’m sure this topic has been beat to death but I have searched and searched for some decent fitting wheels for my 67 C10. The nice ones seem to be mostly in 5 lug.

The first problem honestly is no one really makes a set of proper fitting wheels with correct BS unless you get into billet or custom rims. Which is big money.

The next issue is even though you can get factory rally’s modified the tire selections are pathetic at best. My ultimate choice would be reproduction truck Rally’s in 18” with different widths and backspacing. 18x8,9,10 would be nice. I do like the old school rally look vs the “15,000.00 truck with 5,000.00 wheels and tires” look.

All that aside, I’ve seen some guys swear you shouldn’t move to 5 lug. Unless you are loading down the truck, which I’m not, I don’t see the big deal.

My '67 is 5 lug with power disc brakes added, by the previous owner.

Unfortunately for me the rear was completely changed out from a 3.73 Posi to an open rear. This is the only issue I have with it. The 5 lug setup works great.

Yes, mine is an LS swap with PS and PB.

I'm thinking about making the 5 lug swap.

I am sticking with 6-lug on my swap. It would be nice to convert to 5-lug, but the cost to me is a luxury. My truck had decent 6-lug wheels on it when I bought it and I'm not in a position to spend the money on new axle shafts and wheels right now. If I didn't already have decent 6-lug wheels, I probably would make the conversion. There are a ton more options for 5-lug wheels.

I just rebuilt the front end and converted to drop spindles / disc with 6 lug rotors , The wheels I want are 5 lug but I won't buy wheels and tires until the truck is assembled and the wheels will be the last thing I change so the wheels fit the truck and not trying to build the truck to fit the wheels . I see a lot of guys switch to 5 lug and go out and buy new wheels and tires and wrestle with their suspension to make it work . I'll just use these build wheels until it's ready to swap

Will your current 6 lug wheels work with the new front disc brakes??? Just wondering, not all are compatible...
