I picked 2 "new" trucks today!

I picked up 2 trucks from 2 different places today for my Dad. The short stepper is a '69 and the LWB is a '72. My Dad has been wanting project, so I found him something to work with. He wants an old school hot rod, rat rod type truck. He hasn't had a project in many years, and he's decided to get him something to play with since he's getting close to retiring. He built race engines for years (and taught me when I was young) and he has good old parts laying around that he's planning on using. He's going to build a fairly stout solid cam, double hump headed 350 with a Muncie 4 speed that I have been trying to beat him out of for years. He wanted a bare bones stepper, and that's what I found. He wanted a '71 - '72, but I found the '72 LWB so cheap that we're make the stepper look like a '72

The '69 was originally a 6 cyl 3OTT truck, but is has a '61 283 that actually runs really well. The front clip is a beat up, but the cab is decent (needs rockers) and the bed is pretty nice. It had a terrible paint job at point that is peeling off in sheets.

The '72 has 307 TH350 with P/S that was said to run when when it was parked. This truck has some very good, original paint sheetmetal, but the cab is terrible. It looks like it had the windshield replaced and it never sealed properly. It is rusted above passenger side visor worse that I've ever seen. The water has ruined the dash, seat, and floor. Its a shame because it would be a really decent truck besides that. I'll get it running to see if it runs as good as he said it did, and then we'll part it out.

He was able to get both of them for $800, so I think I got him a smoking deal!

See what you get when you're picky? Those will come together for his plan quite nicely.
